gta4 save problem

Hi all,

Just loaded up gta4 and I have gone from 55% complete to 32% so I am rather peeved about it!

Its not the first time, however, last time it would continuosly load up and old save although luckily I had a manual save later on. I think I put it down to the fact I had unplugged the 360 to connect it to live upstairs. Updated everything then bought it back downstairs to play on and the date had reset.

I think the same has happened now, I had it unplugged yesterday to get a media update from upstairs. Bought it back down, watched a video, played some gta4 on it and it all worked fine. However, just put it on again (it hasn't been unplugged in between last night and now) and lost about 10 hours of play time.

Anyone any ideas if i can get it back somehow? Last manual save I have is 32%, however I was relying on autosaves

not sure if i can help but never rely on autosaves, a mistake in any game.

I have been playing games for 20+ years and I have never had a problem with autosaves until now.

Ah, well I've had it drummed in to me to backup frequently and you can't do that with autosave. If its gone then I doubt theres any way of getting it back.

Have you checked to see if you can load another save? Done this to me , just loaded up the right one.

I had this problem too, lucky for me it was early on in the game and I only lost about 4% which was still a third of what i had done. Talking to a guy in work today and he said the same has happened to him too!

Sorry it's no help but you are not the only one it is happening to. It's just a pain in the bum having to go to the safehouse after every mission or pidgeon kill etc. It might be something to do with un powering the xbox as mine was off for a few days between plays but i dont see why it would affect it

Fixed it.

When the 360 is unplugged it loses the time and date, so when you plug it in again the dats is reset. It appears that when the game is loaded it looks at the current date and time and loads up the save that was closest to it. It however doesn't even acknowledge games with a future date.

The autosaves are available to manually load if you go to the load screen it will be slot 13, right at the bottom of the list!
