GTS + e6600, or GTX+ e6300

I've gone for the GTS + 6600, especially with the current price at OCUK for the BFG GTS. Don't think a GTX is worth £150 more. But a lot will depend on what resolutions your going to be running.

GTS + E6600 without a doubt.

I know you say you don't plan on overclocking but even with the retail HSF you can get that puppy to 3Ghz without breaking a sweat and default volts also the GTS will do 600/1800 guaranteed on the air cooling.

The GTX is way faster than the GTS

I dont think the 6600 is worth 100 more,

Fact is you will get better perfromance with a 6300 clocked to say 3.5ghz and a GTX than a 6600 clocked to same speeds and a GTS

for around the same outlay.

thanks, may as well go for that

I would go 6300 and GTX

the GTX is significantly faster and the extra cache of the 6600 is not worth the 100 quid.

put this towards a faster GFX card.

you can always clock the cpu with ease.

the GTS has it limits and is on par with a GX2

With the current price on the GTS, it's a real steal, and gives far better bang for buck than the GTX.

I say E6600 + GTS.

why spend 100 more on a cpu when he will not notice it.

when 100 more on GFX will flaw the GTS.

The GTX is 25% faster

Persuade this fine young man to go for the third choice, E6600 & 8800GTX.

fornowagain: you need to change your sig's colour mate, i have difficulty reading the 8800gtx

So what do u think i should go for, i wont be overclocking at all for a while though, mainly using the computer for gaming.

If he's not going to overclock then that E6300 will bottleneck the GTX heavily.

I really think at that setup the GTS will be almost as fast, whilst being far cheaper.

If he was overclocking then I might think differently. But the E6600 would help the GTS to "spread it's wings". :)

For gaming and no overclock. Then the GTX and E6300. The GTX is quite a bit faster and the E6300 won't hold it back that much more than the E6600. The other way round with some overclocking to both, the GTS won't get close to the GTX with a 3GHz CPU.

O and btw those fps, they r not average, they take the maximum lol. Coz no way am i getting that high constantly on dark messiah with that reso + aa + af, at some part it does drop a bit..

It wont be far cheaper though as he will be spending the extra on the cpu clock speed something he can get for free
