My card would do the same sometimes, though usually it would work for long enough to start playing games etc before going dark on me.
Can't really Do a diagram, but............
Looking at the card as installed, the two power connectors connect at the right hand side. What you want to do is slip something in between them in such a way as to GENTLY push them apart. The original suggestion came, in a roundabout way, via BFG themselves (in that it was their suggestion that there was imperfect contact in the connectors), and was originally suggested as a bit of plastic. However, cardboard has much better properties for the purpose....it is not only less thermally expansive itself, but also has enough "give" to allow other components to expand/contract.
Of course this may have no impact on your problem, but it's worth a try after you've tried the various wire combinations, just as I did.
