GTX 480 Compare to the GTX 580 ?

480 @ 850 core is on par with a stock 580.

i would say it is quite far behind in fairness mate

my 480 benchmarks at 920core are behind every stock bench i have taken of the 580 so far.
furthermore, every overclocked 580 result i have is leaps and bounds ahead of the 480 even with the limitations of the stock cooler.

580 overclocked scales like a beast too, but this is from a card that is still faster even at stock

It seems a GTX480 is about %15 behind a GTX580

We shall see, it maybe faster but by how much? Got my zalman vf3000f on the way today courtesy of OCUK, keep an eye on the 580 thread.

There is no denying the 580 is what the 480 was suppose to be and I think Nvidia have done a great job in getting it out and addressing all the 480's failings.

superb, that should give you close to WC thermal performance so you can bump the clocks up a bit.

will be interesting to see how you get on with it

i know Ace Modder is currently working on a rundown with one.

580gtx beats 480gtx easy. Even an over-clocked 20% version with 850 core.
And at the same time doing it quieter and more efficiently than 480 gtx.
If u get a 900mhz + version it really goes to town.

It's like comparing 470 gtx to 480 gtx...

So wrong. A GTX 580 is faster than any overclocked 480 when running at stock.

The 580 is the real fermi.

Interesting. So at the same clocks there is more than 7% difference in gaming performance? So its not just a 7% increase of stream processors?

Most of the reviews are putting the performance at 15-20% which would tie in with 10% faster clock speeds and 7% more stream processors.

I know you have cards to sell, but my OC'd 480 SLI setup matches a stock 580 SLI setup in Heaven. Still waiting on some proper game numbers.

Perhaps, but given the similarities in the GPU's I'd imagine improvements will apply to the whole fermi range. I was just pointing out that not every independent benchmark was showing the OC'd 480 behind a stock 580.
