GTX 480 Problems

Hi,

I've had an ASUS GTX 480 for a while now and have been having driver problems ever since.
Games such as BFBC2, minecraft, crash after a minute or twos play, just giving me a black screen but sound still running. The same happens if I try nVidia's design garage, which recovers saying there was a driver crash.
Some games work fine, source games like l4d2, cs:s are fine with no problems.

I tried running driver sweep and reinstalling both official and beta drivers to no avail, and even started with a fresh install of windows and have had no luck. I've updated other drivers like sound and network in case they were conflicting, but still have the same issues. Problem with drivers or the card itself? Any ideas?

Spec is:
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO,
Phenom II X3 720 BE
4GB RAM
100GB Vertex 2 SSD
1TB Samsung F3

Thanks.

Bringing this thread up again, I fixed it by using older drivers which was a good temporary cause but will need to run newer ones for battlefield 3. I updated to 280.26 but I get the same driver crashing in games. Any ideas?

I would have rma'd it the first time you had issues. Sounds like the card is a lemon.

Thing is it works perfectly on the 179.75 drivers I've been running it on, haven't tried many of the newer drivers recently. I heard Asus' RMA is slow/shoddy so didn't really want to resort to that.

MrCreant thanks for the info, I'll give the 275.33 drivers a shot on the 1090T setup and see how it works.

When I first got my ASUS 480 GTX it had numerous driver problems. However Overclockers replaced the card and found the fault 'Display Driver Recovery Error' which I thought was weird for a hardware problem. Since I got my replacement it has ran 100% on all drivers including 280.26. Might be a few with this problem.

It could just be the driver is unearthing some inherent fault with your hardware. I would rma in all honesty. The fact it does the same thing in another pc points to it being an issue with the card.
