Hi All,

After my 8800 GTX was causing crashes thought it time to get a new card. However since changing the card to a GTX 570 have noticed that I am getting FPS drops where I didnt used to. I've put the latest drivers on it and gone through the settings and changed power management to performace always instead of managed, however still having some issues.

Rig:
CPU: Q6600
RAM: 4GB OCZ DDR2
PSU: 650W antec

Its got me thinking, since the Gcard is the only thing to change - Do I need a more powerfull PSU?

Thanks in advance

Its at Stock so 2.4 a core

A Q6600 at stock.......around here that's the equivalent of walking into a bikers bar and drinking a white wine spritzer. I would say your CPU is definitely causing you a bottleneck, the Q6600 was a good chip but it's getting on a bit now and its underlying architecture is 2 generations old now and you should seriously consider overclocking or buying a faster stock CPU.

LOL. yeah I know I know. When I built this machine I did have OC in mind, just had issues when I've tried before (got to about 2.9 a core and kept crashing). In all fairness I am a n00b when it comes to OC. So I'm guessing I should point myself at the OC threads then

edit: cooling should be ok as have antec 900 case

MB is P5N-E SLI and cpu fan is Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro. Found the MB has an auto overclock util....tried this as 10% overclock and couldnt even get to windows, had to restore BIOS defaults to get back. have had a look at the basic OC thread and although some stuff is making sense some things are missing, so a little reluctant to do anything really

Nvidia chipset, ouch.

I don't think you're going to overclock far with that mobo, look for a cheap P45 chipset mobo.
