I think I'm going to purchase the Asus 580 I was wondering with a AMD 955 Black edition overclocked to 3.61ghz and 8gb of 1600mhz ram would a 650W AX Pro corsair power supply be enough to power a 580?

The Corsair 650WX AX Pro PSU will be A-OK with an overclocked phenom II CPU and a GTX 580 graphics card system.

When you say "A-OK" you mean it will be a good combo and will work in harmony? :D And I guess with those rating it all depends on how good the processors are, Mine is quite out dated but I think with the overclock it's still a decent processor :D

I meant that the PSU will happily power your system which included an overclocked phenom II X4 and a gtx 580. As for how these two parts balance out in gaming, it really depends on what games you play and at what resolution.

In most games the overclock Phenom II X4 will be more than sufficient - although there are a few games that are much more CPU heavy and the CPU will limit your performance before the graphics card can (such examples include Civ 5, GTA4, the witcher 2).

That said, even then games should look great and your CPU shouldn't really be holding back your gaming too much.

Would you recommend overclocking the GTX 580 when I get it?
I can't say

As i only run my two GTX 580 with a small overclock to 800mhz as i no need to overclock them any higher,
as my SLI 580 setup is far fast enough to run all the games i play..

I say only overclock it if you need the extra FPS in the games you play
