Haha :D, I feel your pain. I was in a similar situation myself this week.

I had the Gigabyte Windforce x3 670. I thought the card was really quiet and very powerful. From a 6950 2GB, flashed>6970 and OC'd to that card on BF3 was jaw dropping. I sent it back as I wanted the 7970, nearly went with the 7950 but I can't and it's partly Lt.Matt's fault for saying there is a 7970 club with party hats and triangle cut sandwiches .

I was running at 1920x1200/1920x1440. Both performed fine but I get 75Hz @ 1920x1200 and only 60Hz @ 1440 (my eyes strain @ 60hz sometimes). Sadly, I can only share my BF3 experience as it was a new OS install due to a SSD purchase but when you consider that the GTX 670 can come close to a GTX 680 stock performance, it's something worth considering. You might get away with the 660 at your resolution (?) but as you would advise someone else, is it worth taking the risk?. If you like to spend the time in a game or two throughout the week then personally, I'd get the GTX 670.

Hehe! Tough call. What about a 7950? Thinking of a similar upgrade but want a nvidia for fsx. Didn't you have a GTX 570? Don't think a 660 would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Correct, I did have a GTX570 but I had a technical incompatibility with a new motherboard, so instead of waiting for a fix, just thought sod it, sell it.

I also come out in blotches and a rash at the thought of using an ATI card, so its Nvidia all the way for me.

Maybe a special deal/offer will turn up soon on something.

The 660 is like a massively overclocked 7850 with £50+ extra slapped on for good measure. Could always buy the 7850 and put a nvidia sticker on it. lol just kidding!!!

We now have a large range of slightly different, closely matched products from each company. I'll use nv as an example but all tech companies seem to do it. I very much doubt that at the bottom line, a 660ti and a 660 cost any different to produce. If so, why dont the companies drastically cut the r&d associated with making all these different products and reflect that in the prices charged.

It seems that these companies have chosen different price points, then develop products to fit in them, slightly different to the next one up or down the list. Why do they need to have a £150, £170, £200, £250 price point. Im sure if the 660 was never produced, the 660ti could have been sold at the price the 660 is now. They would have cleared up if that was done.

yeah im looking to replace my oc'd 6850 just dont know what to buy been wondering to get for nearly a week!lol
