My MSI 970 arrived in the post yesterday and all was good for an hour or so then my monitor lost input from the card and screen went black.

I have tried numerous restarts, re-seating card, have both 6 and 8 pin power connected, and I'm using latest drivers. Card lights up and fans spin then stop (but I believe this is a feature of the card) but monitor still doesn't pick up signal from card. I know it's not the monitor or display port cable as if I put old card in everything is fine.

Any ideas? My first thought was my PSU but with it being a Corsair 650W one it should be more than capable.

Well tried other pci-e slot that I know works as had WiFi card plugged into it and no input from card to monitor. 'Newest' BIOS driver is from 2012 so pretty sure I've previously updated it because of hardware issues in the past.

Looks like it's RMA time unless anyone else has any suggestions as don't have another computer to test it in.

Can you try another connection on the card? Just to rule out a dodgy connector (seen those before).

If it ran fine for a little bit then i would be hesitant about RMAing until you try it in another computer. Could you not use a friends or relatives computer to try it out?

I've found another pci-e power cable so I'll give that a go. Those I socialise with are all into their consoles so that's a no go. Anyone from Newcastle area who doesn't mind me testing my card in their computer let me know please.

Might sound daft, however the card might be using another output such as DVI or HDMI instead of the DP. If you have a spare HMDI and DVI cable it might be worth a bash.

Not as daft as it sounds as it didn't cross my mind seeing as how DP was working on this card and my old one. That does indeed work so what does that tell me? DP knacked? I can't see a setting in nvidia control panel to set default as DP. Main reason I bought monitor I have is it does DP at 144hz.

That's why I suggested trying another socket in my earlier post. Sounds like RMA time.
