GTX 970 Problem

Hi,

I bought an Asus GeForce GTX 970 TURBO OC 4096MB Graphics Card on 27th June from Overclockers. A few days ago it started acting oddly whenever I play computer games or, seemingly, anything that requires 3D graphics. I'm getting brightly coloured objects flashing on the screen, over the 3D image. I've never seen anything like this before. All other graphics functions, e.g. spreadsheets and word documents or Youtube videos work fine, no problems at all.

I've tried changing graphics resolutions and colour settings but the problem remains.

I just installed the card and the latest drivers and that's it. I've not tweaked any settings, etc.

What is the cause and how can I fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like Graphics corruption. lower the GPU and Memory clocks, see if thats a fix.

I would record a short video with examples of it, upload it somewhere and link it to OcUK Customer Services, to ask for advice. Or take pictures if easier.

It's probably a video memory issue and may require RMA unless they suggest you lower the memory clock for example.

Thanks for the response. But, err, how do I do that?

DL and install this... http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/msi-afterburner-beta-download,30.html reboot and set these two sliders to minus 200 each, then click on the tick to apply...

Just to see if that solves the problem. its a factory overclocked card, it may not be stable.

its not about needing to do anything, its about confirming or eliminating a problem, if he sends it back and they find no fault he pays.

Apologies you are having issues. Have you tried installing GPU Tweak 2 and checked you haven't got a big overclock on? If not it could be a fault card and I would consider contacting Overclockers for a replacement.

if you install any tuning software you should be able to get a read out of the temp.

Turbo card is really aweful at keeping the 970 cool, 960 isnt so bad. None of the ram chips come into contact with the heatsink and dont actually receive airflow due to their being a ramp in the fan housing.

As above lower both speeds and have a check. EVGA artifact scanner might come in handy.

Thanks for everyone's comments and help. I've downloaded the MSI tool and played with the memory and core clock speeds, but it's had no effect.

So I'm returning the card and going to get another one.
