hi I inserted gtx titan in a hp xw6600 and running crisis 3 at max and still getting lags. I called up evga and they said you need a better cpu likes 850w. im currently running 650w psu. and the requirements for gtx titan is 600watts .should I get a new psu

Crysis 3 requires at least an i5 or i7 CPU, if you don't have one of those then the game will be CPU bottle necked. This means your GPU is limited when the CPU can't feed it data fast enough.

As for the PSU (power supply), 600w should be fine for any single card, but no idea what make your power supply is. If it's a stock HP one, then it may be rubbish. What are the full specs of your PC?

What CPU do you have? Crysis 3 is very CPU dependent and having, for example a 12 thread i7 extreme can improve minimum framerates a lot. It is one of the few games that really benefits from hyperthreading.

As long as your 650w power supply is a good one, 650w should be more than enough for a single titan.

U checked the voltage that the titan is getting when under load? also is your CPU/ ram overclocked or running on XMP?

Use GPU-Z and the render test to see what your voltage and core clock reaches when the graphics card is working its hardest.

You CPU is massively holding you back..

This is funny. :D

Did you actually insert a GTX titan in a workstation?

Please post us the complete specs of your PC so we can maybe help you further.

But upgrading a workstation like that with a titan is not really a smart move.

I do hope this isn't a troll. The answer from the Evga support sounds quite dodgy.

Oh dear, did you honestly just purchase a Titan for a workstation? An old underpowered one at that. I think you should sell the titan and use the money to upgrade all other areas unless you can afford to upgrade without selling.

yeah sure

its a dual cpu. xeon e5450 3.00ghz quad core
32gb ram
650 psu with +12v 35amps combined.
4 hard drives

I was advised by the evga advisor to upgrade my psu because I need 36 amps on +12 minimum.

well im going to get a new psu maybe 1000watts as I was told by the evga advisor and hopefully will resolve the lags, if it dosent il just leave it as it is.thanks

Your problem is the CPU! Crysis 3 needs a well clocked i7 to run at its best and remove most of the bottleneck from a fast GPU.
