If the GTX 485 is as power-hungry, non-progressive and expensive as it is supposed to be then you'd be mad to wait it out for that.

The upcoming ATi cards could be interesting, but I feel it won't be until their new range in 2011 that the ante is truly upped.

My advice to others who were in the same situation as the OP is buy now and sell if and when there's something much better coming imminently.

Obviously 485 won't be as dramatic as you guys make it to be.

the review I presume you guys saw is of original 480 without anything disabled.

The rumors say it will apprenetly somehow be cooler more efficient and 20% faster but it all does sound too good to be true.

What really made me go for it was basically the price to performance.

I've done a lot of reading as to whether or not to shell out the extra for the 5970, but with the overclockability of the 480's that I've seen with the use of Afterburner, the 480 just seemed like such an ideal purchase @ £350.

The main thing that put me off it at release was just that it was too expensive for the performance I saw it doing (although drivers have improved this a great deal), I just couldnt see myself spending £450 on em.

I think the next set of cards will have performance increases of maybe 15-20% at most, and will probably launch at the old £450-£500 mark (I'm just guessing here), which would put them out of my acceptable price range.

Really glad I've made the purchase now, thinking about it. Can't wait to get this sucker in my machine.

Oh, and does anybody know if it comes with a PCI-E to PCI-E 2.0 power adapter? Or will I have to get one separately?

Sauce on the rumours?

Must...resist...urge...to....buy.......

It's tempting to splash out on a 480 right this second but I wouldnt want to buy it just to have the 485 laughing at me in the very near future. Will have to see what they're priced at, then go for the sensible one.

Go with evga one, if 485 will come out there is 99% it will come out within 3 months.

Well the cheapest 480 is £350 and by all accounts they are not inexpensive to make, a highend card with a 384-Bit Memory Interface and 1536 mb of memory is not going to drop much less than £350 IMO.
