GTX480, which one to get?

Not to bring the fanboi hammer down, but I don't intend to purchase ATI anytime soon (have in the past). Explaining my opinions will more than likely fuel the fire so let's leave it at that please.

*groan* Oh well...

How much would you be willing to pay for these shiny shiny jingly keys? :p

I do see your point, I don't really remember but was there much difference between the 280 and 285 anyway?

There was not, a 285 had marginally higher clocks and OC a little better, you could OC a stock 280 past 285 performance, it was certainly not a worthwhile upgrade for 280 owners, it's more just a mid term refresh that porbably more than anything else is there to bring down the manufacturing cost, by rejigging the card slightly

470 for £230 or 480 for £350

480 is 20-25% faster for >+50% the cost.
Yea...I guess the GTX480 has the price premium for being the fastest single GPU card and now at a price that people can afford/willing to pay. As for 5870...considering it is no longer the fastest single GPU card, not really sure if it worth the price premium over the 5850 to be honest :p Like people have said, they should drop 5870 price to around £250~£260.

IMO both 5870 and 480 should drop to more reasonable levels, say £260 and £320 receptively.

Hows about getting a GTX470, then saving a bit of money then getting another one down the line for SLI goodness? They are damn cheap at the moment and fast cards to boot
