GTX580 Graphics Card recommendations Please

Hello all, I am considering treating myself to a New graphics card, I currently have a GTX 480 and was thinking about upgrading to a GTX580.
I was wondering what recommendation members have?
I have read that some 580`s are actually quite noisy ?

Yes the Game Battlefield 3 gets released in October so I would like to be able to play the game on the very highest settings etc, I would also use less power and the card will be cooler etc.
But mainly for the BF3 if I was to be honest
Also at the moment I can get a fairly good price second hand on the 480 but once the 600`s get released there will not be much chance of that, so at the moment the upgrade will not be so harsh on the pocket!

There's no point to upgrade from a 480 to a 580. Go get another 480 for SLI.

Another 480 I would need to get another power supply as the one I have is 750 wats.

I would also have a problem with twice the heat

I have the EVGA 580 and cant fault it, runs great and was bought just for BF3.

Temp wise doesnt go over 70c and 35c at idle, overclocking had the core upto 900 with a slight voltage increase.

Its appears to have a lot of ram at 3072MB does this amount of ram really help ?

he's already said he doesn't want to go 480 sli, seems to be adament on gretting a 580 regardless of everyone advicing that its not worth upgrading to 580 and to wait. not much you can do with people like this.

As I already explained, I would have to get a 1000wat power supply to run 2 GTX480`s, they don't come cheap!, I have not got water cooling so that`s more expense, so running two 480 on air is going to be hot hot hot!

At the moment I can get around £200 for my GTX 480 on auction sites so the upgrade is not really costing me an arm and a leg

My original post was asking for members preferences on a 580 and not about sticking with a 480 or going SLI 480.

Hello all, just a little update, I could not resist the upgrade and went over kill really and opting for a Gainward GTX580 3072mb Card purchased from here! the addiction to get something New was too overpowering!

Cosmetically its a lovely quality looking card and the idle temps are so very low around the 30c to 35c mark very quiet as well! Not sure what the load temps are as I have not had time to check.

I am so far very pleased and have listed my 480 on an auction site which has already had a bid of £150! with 2 days to go so I will be clawing some back!
