Quick Q, Im applying for a job and it says:

Are you applying under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS)?

yes or no

Please provide details.

What does it mean?

Normally it would explain what the GIS is in the application support notes. Assuming you didn't spill coffee on them and chuck them in the bin of course. :)

But yes it is about whether you feel you have a disability that would enable you to be guaranteed an interview regardless of numbers of applicants. You still have to meet the essential criteria for the role but if they were interviewing only 10 people and 12 met the essentials but had better on paper credentials, the person with the GIS tick would still have to be interviewed.

People with disabilities may not be offered the same opportunities to excel in a role or their disability may impact on this. So where someone's CV may show that they have taken on extra duties and responsibility which is obviously good material for an application form; the same may not be the case for the person with the disability.

Hope that clears it up a little :)

you can be sure the sort of person who forces you to interview them is gonna be the sort of person that causes you all sort of trouble...

If someone pulled that card and I was interviewing, I'd have to interview them but there would be no chance of them getting the job.

And that would make you a pretty despicable employer. If you don't understand the barriers people with disabilities face perhaps you should familiarise yourself with this website. Your post wasn't big or clever...
