guaranteed Interview

They also have people working for them who are able persons, this is just to get the stats balance up a bit, probably to some government targets. Able people will be able to apply for jobs in that department, just not for that 1 vacancy.

im aware of that, but able bodied/minded people will have a selection process just to get an interview where as disabled get an interview regardless.
which tbh, is unfair.

That's not the case though:
To demonstrate our commitment we use the Disability Symbol, which is awarded by the Employment Services. As a symbol user, we guarantee an interview to anyone with a disability whose application meets the minimum criteria for the post.

I think it's more as long as you fit the required skills / training / qualifications for the job, they'll give you an interview nomatter what the disability.

Though I don't really see how it's classed as a significant disadvantage. You don't need any sort of special help do you?

ok, i guess you have never gone through applications to cut down those that dont look good. invariably you will cull people who have the skills but maybe the application form isnt filled out the best, or the CV looks horrific.

if an able bodied or disabled person applies and meets the criteria, then give them all an interview, why say that being disabled will garentee an interview, why not just say meed the criteria and you will be interviewed?

That would depend on how many good candidates do not make it to interview stage becasue of various issues like handwriting or who knows what...

I also think that a disabled person should be treated on merit. The policy may backfire, I certainly look forward to attending an interview whereby I had no idea whether I had reached that stage on merit or upon circumstance...
