Guardiola - Bayern Munich manager!

Good luck to him. I've always preferred Dortmund in Germany but it is impossible not to like Guardiola.

Glad that he isn't going to Chelsea or Manchester City though. Maybe in three years Ferguson will look to retire....

Great to see him back in the game as said it is hard to dislike him just the way he conducts himself and the passion he has for football, you can tell he is a perfectionist. Hopefully does well there, would be nice to see him in England just not at Chelsea or Man City. I am not a UTD fan in anyway shape or form but I can see him being a great fit for them in the future.

So, Fergie arranges a secret meeting with Guardiola and Mourinho invited a couple of weeks ago. A few days later Guardiola announces he wants to manage in England on SAF's advice but then agrees to be become Bayern manager.

I don't think Bayern are a stopgap, he will do well there, but I like where this is going. :D

A bit of a surprise, but the choice of club, along with his comments today, are interesting. It looks like he values stability which he probably wouldn't get at the Oil Clubs, or in Italy.

Of course we are yet to really see how good he is. He had great success at Barcelona but all he had to do there was steady the ship. It can't go unnoticed that his unknown replacement has had an amazing start to the season going 18-1-0 with the league pretty much wrapped up already.

Eh?

I wish him the best - but it would have been far more interesting had he taken a team that really needs (re)building, rather than one thats already at the top and doing very well indeed

(dont get me wrong, Man Utd have numerous frailties and yet still sit on top of their league - but there is also a lot more competition in England than there is in Germany. Also, like the Spanish, the biggest (player) names in German football stay in their own league and rarely venture out to other countries for long - it will be interesting to see if Pep has the pull to get some Spanish /German migration)

Can someone please edit the thread title. :o :p

This will be quite an interesting test of how good a manager he is, Bayern have an excellent squad but Barcelona had the often 'free win' combination of Messi + Xavi + Iniesta, Bayern have nothing close to that.

Good luck to him. I guess he prefers German stability rather than Premiership madness. At least we'll see how good he may be.

Thought he wanted to manage here in England from what i was reading today on SSN so am a bit surprised to see he will manage Bayern for a few seasons.

Anyhow glad he didnt jump for the Chelsea job, would have been an utter fool to go there knowing what RA is like, trigger happy when things arent going well with the team.

Would love to see Barca and Bayern play now, see who comes out on top:p. Ex Barca manager against his old team and Messi.
