errr I believe it is Turtles can fly which truly is a beautiful film. I do feel a bit cheap getting all the clues makes me having seen it seem less impressive .

You have seen Irreversible and I can assure you it's not as bad as that.
Without a doubt 'Turtles Can Fly' is one of the best films I have seen in years and I tend to watch at least 5 films a week
