Here is the simple rule of hazard perception to pass it easily.

Pass mark is anything higher than 45. I got 68 out of 75 max with this method.

You see a hazard ahead press left click when your 2 meters from the same hazard press again.
rinse and repeat.

Worked for me and will work for you. Dont be frightened of the hazard part of your theory test. its a doddle.

If i remember correctly, this is in fact, how you're meant to (and told to) do the hazard perception anyway lol It's not a trick.

Click when you see a potential hazard/hazard about to happen.
Click again when it turns into a hazard.

I never took one either - on my original driving test which would have been around 1989/1990.

I did have to take one before I sat my motorbike test in 2005. I spent a good few hours working my way through the interactive DVD and found the majority of it seemed to be common road sense and experience more than anything else. Given that by that time I'd have had around 15 years of experience I pretty much found it a doddle.

I found the "trick" was just all about clicking at ~2s intervals during the hazard being visible. Always lands you an acceptable score.

While I agree with what you've posted I don't think "its a trick" as such. I'd guess they'd have given you around 2 seconds "thinking time" between seeing the situation developing and reacting or in this case seeing the developing situation and "clicking".

Also, for what it's worth. After successfully passing my motorbike test I then blew the budget I had saved up for a 600R Yamaha Thundercat on a MK1 MR2! I've never been on a bike since and truly don't regret it one little bit. I will say this though - the actual week long bike course I took with the test at the end really taught me quite a bit and now I've so much more respect for bikers, I'll always give them room and even today in my car I'll always give a quick over shoulder (blind spot) check before committing to any lane chance manoeuvre.

I clicked a few times for each, what I considered, hazard. Most of them weren't even hazards. I got 65.

I can't help but think that harzard perception would be a lot better and more accurate if each cadidate had to point out (and maybe explain) each hazard to a tester sitting next to them. But of course, god forbid any more work for the testers to do other than point people to a cubicle and print out a score card.

I have a second job as a "tester" as you put it and it is indeed easy money. However we are simply a company who run various computer based testing on behalf of various clients one of which is the driving theory test. Our job is simply to provide a continuity of testing in a uniform environment for anyone sitting the test. The actual test you are sitting, its content and any detail is completely nothing to do with us I'm afraid.

Try think of the resources needed for your suggestion.

Probably better to send all new drivers on the courses you have to take when caught speeding and on mobile phones.
