The beta event hasn't started yet.

As has been said (many times), it starts at 8PM.

Not entirely sure what is so confusing about it, you got an email from Anet telling you everything you needed to know, try actually paying attention next time.

Someone said earlier in the thread the servers were up. Blame them.
 
The exact same thing happened in diablo 3 when the servers were meant to come up for open beta, it seems these days schools don't tell children how to tell time. I'm an OP in #diablo3 on qnet and trying to explain to people that the UK is not currently using GMT, and that france and countries that normally use CET are now using CEST.

GW2 is planned to start at 8PM BST (UK), 9PM CEST (some EU countries).

The only time I can understand much confusion is when the US and EU change to/from DST on different dates. But when both are using DST or both are not, then it is very simple.

Not specifically at you, it was directed to the whole world as it seems about 50% of people 'get' time zones, 25% of people don't, and 25% of people don't but insist that they are right.

In this modern age where so much stuff on the internet happens worldwide it is more useful than ever for people to understand time zones and be able to work out when something happens in your local time zone based on a time in another time zone.

I'm not blaming the people who make mistakes (except those who insist we use GMT all year round, trying to correct them is a pain), I blame the schools who don't teach this stuff because this is not a complicated subject but is important.

Where does it say this? The email I received didn't. I mean I don't really care, there is only one correct time and clearly that is 8PM, all I did was forget we are on BST, hardly what I would call "not knowing how to tell time".

Really if you take this that seriously you should be reassign your priorities.

It's hardly that big a deal is it?
 
I dont take it seriously.....just saying how can people get confused.

Can we discuss Guild Wars 2 in this thread the last few pages have just been people flaming each other about time zones and telephone phobia.

Only going to have a few hours this weekend to play it personally, so my plan is to go and explore all the racial capital cities that come up in the trailers - particularly the Asura one and try out a couple of the classes that have piqued my interest; Thief, Mesmer and maybe Guardian
 
So if my accounts are linked, everyone of my GW1 names are saved right?
