This wont happen though because every server is open for this beta, with overflow servers available too.

In last weeks Diablo 3 beta, they were only using one single server.

If its like GW1, you dont need to connect to a server to create a character.

It wont be all servers.

I think there are 47 up for the beta. For comparison SWTOR has 120+ for US alone, so they will probably have a ton more in place for the launch.

Another point is Anet have closed prepurchase in the US, probably because of how many players they are having to accommodate for these weekends.

I had a similar problem, I just moved the .exe to the documents folder, and it was fine after that.

Try deleting gw2.tml and running the .exe as a shortcut with the target with a -repair at the end.
