Guild Wars 2

It seems you and bhavv are really over-sensitive.

Nope I am just sick of reading the same old **** again and again. I would prefer it if people would talk about what works and doesn't in their opinion of classes etc. And rebind them movement keys - if you really must know in closed beta we said that the usage of CTRL keys made it more difficult for newcomers and that the fact you only needed to map a third of the buttons say from SWTOR means there is no reason to use them especially as you need to keep active on the movement keys at all times. So maybe blame the closed beta testers and the metrics that found that mapping stuff with CTRL + ALT was giving people a worse experience. We also said to default bind to esdf though but I guess that is too much for anyone to get used to?!?

Ok in regards to key bindings (I generally use a G13) but I find this works best with a keyboard:

Forward, left, right, back etc = rdfg
Weapon 543 = qwe
Weapon 21 = as
Utility = tyu
Elite = j
Heal = h
Class specific = cvbn
Interact = x
Jump = Space

That way you never have to stretch fingers at all. If you insist in using a keyboard work from this from the off.

Having the option to rebind skills to CTRL/Shift modifier keys makes things "more difficult for newcomers"? How? They're not forced to use it? What ridiculous feedback to give to a developer! Why are certain people even testing a closed Beta if they are clearly so inept?

I mean just think of every other MMO in existence that has this option: does it fundamentally alienate newcomers from the off? No! They just continue mouse-clicking to max level, perfectly happy and undisturbed. Does the game have no FOV slider or camera Zoom options because that would introduce unnecessary complication for the newcomer too? The closed Beta testers sound pedantic to the point of foolishness.

Is it impossible to have an objective discussion about a video game on this board? lol

I'm interested in flaws too, no such thing as perfection, especially in a video game of this scale.

Well technically it's impossible to have an objective discussion about any form of entertainment, much less one in an unpredictable Beta test... but there does seem to be some point of "I'm personally more vested in GW2, therefore my opinion is weighted more" going on here.

Well, not if you detach your own opinion from the discussion and leave the subjectivity at the door. :p

Edit - which is difficult when you want the product your speaking about to be so good but flaws need to be pointed to get it to the standard you're looking for. Airing my thoughts, really. :p

WvWvW is both a very noisy and occasionally rather frustrating experience.

Getting caught up in a zerg is a lot of fun, and surprising not that laggy, but dieing and then having to run across half a map to find a fight does become a bit stale.

I think I'll try out a Guardian or Engineer next.

I aint exactly in the bhavv fanclub but he has time and time again helped people in this thread. All you have done is bitch ... have fun being critical. I'm having fun in GW2 - I have all the way through beta - if you don't then move along to the next game don't waste that precious commodity - time. And next time if you want to shape the way a game develops get in the alpha builds and you can do just that - I am sure you'll do a better job than us lot who are currently running through them.

And the rebinding was substantiated by metrics ... guess you missed that part. You know where the players who were using those bindings were doing significantly worse because it was inhibiting movement. But I am sure they'll put them back in soon.

For some reason Cj's are refusing to sort me out a new key and ncsoft have said it's down to them. I've requested they sort it out or I'm getting a refund (hopefully)!

That's a very lame way of deflecting the point that having great keybinding customisation doesn't do diddly squat to hurt new players.

So when you are leaving feedback in game are you using the comments section to actually say that and maybe scoring the event 1 harder than you thought it was and justifying that in the comment section by saying your usual play style is not possible. It's a beta you know and they look for feedback unless you are directly addressing this to Arenanet then you are kind of missing the whole point of beta. Don't type problems on OcUK type them to Arenanet ... that's what beta testing is for. For all we know they might be looking at the very thing and seeing how people react to it. Ever thought of that - seeing how people progress without certain things and comparing it to other tests. That is kind of what they do you know.

All you need to do is have this on copy and paste "I believe I found the event harder than it should be because I was unable to use modifiers in keybinding which is something other MMOs do and which I am used to. If this had been available I feel the experience would have been improved. I believe removing this mechanic makes it less intuitive for newer players and possible may worsen their experience".

Unless you are doing that and giving that feedback to Arenanet - it's a beta - then really shut up about it ... if you have then give them a chance to see what everyone else says.

Oh and give decent feedback like that and you know what you might actually get into this things from the off and not have to wait to purchase and like I said shape the game to something you want.

if this is coming out in June as people suspect, they have bugger all time to sort all the issues out - possible push back?
all will they just release it and hope the hype carries them but that will only last so long.

Not really the servers have not acted like this at all not even in the stress tests - it looks like someone has messed up the disconnection code and the hanging connections along with the amount of hits they are getting is causing this weekends problems. In fairness WvWvW is a lot less laggy than it has been.

Dare I say this but troll?

All you're doing is repeatedly moaning about one point and how it apparently undermines the entire game and when people provide a counterpoint you assume they're in love with and blinded by their desire for GW2 to be perfect after bashing them.

Why are you in here? Nobody likes your constant whining. If you have nothing constructive to say then get the **** out and stop trying to ruin this thread and the game for people.

Push back?

There isn't even a release date yet, apart from 2012. :D

Which leaves them plenty of time to fix any major bugs, and if they feel like they can release a game with minor bugs which can be fixed after launch then they will.

I highly doubt they will though.

More like someone simply expecting progress and improvement in a well-established game genre on a well-established gaming platform. It's simply inexcusable when certain things are missing and the game as a result takes a giant leap backwards. GW2 touts evolution, not regression. Whether I'm a troll or a semi-pro gamer or a housewife doesn't really have much to do with it.
