Guild Wars 2

How can that be? Two different variations, if that was the case people would be able to reserve a popular name lets say Merlin.. So Merlin Wakkawoowoo in GW1 would guarantee them first dibs on the singular name Merlin? Can't be right.

Why can't it be right, it's a service they offering their customers.

So I use the name wab in gw1, let's say my surname is immortal, so for gw2 wab is reserved for me.

If you’re a Guild Wars player who wants to use your character names in Guild Wars 2, now is the time to stake your claim. It’s easy—all you have to do is log in to your Guild Wars account to reserve all your character names. But don’t delay—the deadline for name reservation is July 31.
We’re building our Guild Wars 2 name reservation list on July 31. We’re only reserving character names from active Guild Wars accounts, which is why you’ll need to log in at least once in 2012 before we build the list in order to be considered an active Guild Wars player.
However, as we mentioned in a previous blog post, your Guild Wars character names will not be reserved indefinitely. You must create a Guild Wars 2 character with the same name as your Guild Wars character during the Headstart Access period or on launch day. Shortly after launch, we’ll free up all the unclaimed names for new Guild Wars 2 players to use.
Don’t wait! Log in to your original Guild Wars account and reserve your character names today!

So what if someone is name Wab Thisisadumbsystem, do they get to reserve Wab also?

ALso where is this name reservation thing?

So we're going to have multiple people with the same name?

Log in to my account where?

It's not to clear on that, I'm guessing if 2 or more have the same name it's first come first served, which I guess is the only fair way.

You need to log into your GW1 account. If you don't have one you cannot reserve a name.

Unless there's something concrete that states that - there's no way thats how they're running it.

wab immortal isnt equal to wab. I have a monk on GW1 called S M I T E, I wont have S M / S M I / S M I T reserved.

I really could be wrong, but I would be completely blown away if that's how it is going to work.

According to everything I have read only the full 2 word name is reserved, for instance if I were called 'Joe Blogs' in GW1 someone else could still get the name 'Joe' on launch day however not the name 'Joe Blogs'.

Anyone know where I can get the game for cheap? There is no way in hell am I paying £50 for it by DIRECTLY supporting the developer themselves. I didn't realise it cost so much money to ship them bytes over the vast digital ocean spanning between the US and UK.

£40 from Shopto seems okay. Anywhere better?

E: I can get it for £34.04 from GAME by using some reward card points. Any where else?

Had a blast playing this over the weekend, no doubt this will be taking up a lot of my free time for the rest of the year(once its out of corse). ^^

I've seen no evidence you can reserve a single name with a Gw1 account, you'd only have a claim with wan immortal, wan on its own would be a first come first served name. If multiple people want that name they will have their 4 digit account number displayed after it.

Just get it for £34! It's an MMO with awesome content already in it with no subscription. Well worth that!

I thought the 4 digit number was only for the forums? As far as I know each name is unique in-game.

Guild Wars 1 only had two word names so you can't reserve a one word name.

If you have a name beginning with "Joe" then that is what is reserved for you from GW1 providing you log in before July 31st. From then on all other names beginning with "Joe" are open for reservation from GW1 and then open to the masses on the 25th August Headstart. The single name "Joe" is only available first come first served on the 25th

There will be multiple "Joe's" walking around each with different surnames (from GW1) but only one with the single name "Joe" (GW2).

Hope this clarify's.

£29ish with the current 15% off Pre-Orders offer. ;)

Tesco have always been spot on for my pre-orders in the past.

Wanted to play one of the Betas but nooo, and im not going to pay *£50 for a game that hasnt proven itself to me yet, ive made that mistake too many times!

Played the beta, thought it was ok though the control system and movement seemed a bit clunky and not very fluid. I've never played an mmo so I think its just something I need to get used to.

Well its a lot better than the last few MMO's out (swtor, rift etc) ..and its free to play so its not a hard 50 to drop.

Time will tell wab! going to wait, judge how its received, and may pick this up closer to Christmas.
