Guild Wars 2

Seems like the main class people are enjoying is the necro. This was the class i was least likly to pick. Although it seems its worth a try. Stuck between Necro, Elementalist or Theif...

Hmmff

I only lasted till 11 last night. Was too tired but wishing i stayed on this morning.

Dead set on Thief now. It's just terribly fun, I love changing the weapons around. Think I'm going to go MH Pistol OH Dagger with a Bow for my switchable. Love it! Also, PVP may be fun with it!

Leaning towards human at the moment but I'm hoping I won't get bored of the frankly boring human lore.

Having played with the build editor this morning I'm pretty set on trying a thief now. I looked at the ranger as well but the thief skills just sound really fun to use. going Bow main and sword/dagger secondary I think. I'm not sure on race either. I tried Norn and Human lasty night and found human's pre story a lot more fun. I kind of want to have an asura character at some point though because Felicia Day voices a character in the story...

Something I haven't found out, do the different races have difference other than the class skills? For example would an asura thief and a human thief have the same amount of helth, same speed etc?

I had the same issue.

Literally about 40 players doing the same event trying to kill a huge termite.

Was so messy I couldn't even find what I was meant to be attacking half the time. Lol.

I suppose the fact that it seemes to be invisible half the time and every single time I used heartseeker I was teleported to a random location!

Still very enjoyable and I'm very much looking forward to Saturday.

I'm sure most of the bugs and lag issues will be down to the stress testing and I would imagine the game will be incredibly well polished because of these tests.

Yea im having the same problem with melee too!

Does anyone know if you can toggle how char run? I prefer it on 2 feet as it feels faster and on all 4's seems awfully slow! (I know they are all the same speed but it just looks slow lol)

How melee dependent are thiefs? May try them on release and use bows etc

The class that most makes me want to play GW2 is the Thief. Next choice would be the ranger.

After playing with the other classes apart from the small guys, humans just feel and look a bit stale imo! Didnt think id like sylvari until i got on the creator and had a play with there appearance!

Dont know too many decisions! Never been this hard to decide who and what to be which really speaks for the games classes and races! Awesome!

I played a thief last night and everytime I used the second ability I was teleported randomly. I really enjoyed this and I have set my mind on a Azura. My alt will be a neco but not bothered about that just yet!

Yeh man, see previous posts. A lot of people are having the teleport issue.

Should be ironed out by Saturday.

The thing is seriously huge... This is it in front of a 30" monitor

Do the classes have racial benefits? I've had a look on the GW site and it doesn't really explain much.

A charr thief sounds good..

They have racial skills (which won't be much use except early on because they're not as powerful as other skills) but I can't find out if there are racial benefits other than that, I asked earlier today as well!

Any sort of skill that warps you to your foe ended up putting me back miles away. Eviscerate on the warrior and heartseeker on the thief. I stopped using them.

Rubber banding used to be one of the biggest issues in GW1. It normally happened when alt tabbing. Hope this is just a one off for GW2. Certainly the only time I have seen it throughout the betas tbh.

I thought it was rather funny - another escape move haha.

The game re-set and had a small update and it seemed to be ok for me but not sure on others.

I honestly cant wait to play this game! But I am away in the head start (creamfields) and then move into new house on friday with no internet till 25th September.

I have a usb stick I will be using but need to try it out. Fingers crossed its ok!

Found the answer:

GW2Guru: There’s a lot of speculation about the effect of a races stature and strength (norn warrior vs asuran warrior, for example). Are these purely aesthetic factors, or will there be a mechanical impact?

Eric Flannum: The racial differences such as stature and strength are purely aesthetic. We don’t want sylvari to be faster than the other races or norn to be able to jump higher as that would put more gameplay significance on race than we wanted. We want racial choice to provide flavor, story, and a little bit of skill variety such that players don’t feel they need to play a particular race/profession combination.

Ok ok **** it, I'm almost blatantly going to buy the game. So now just to decide what Race, and between Thief/Ranger. From what I've heard of the beta Melee is really quite hard to get the hang of, so might be worth going Ranger to begin with, but the Thief looks like so much fun..

Just as a casual though who won't play that much, is there much in the game in terms of grouping? Eg will it be easy for a casual to jump into a dungeon run (I realise end game raiding requires more commitment)..
