Guild Wars 2

Where are you using your trait points and what weapons are you using? I'm currently 26 and got 10 in markmanship only cos I don't know where to stick the rest! I'm using short bow mainly with a sword now and again when I fancy some variety.

Don't worry too much about where you put your points as the games pretty forgiving so you won't struggle too much wherever you put points. I got to lv80 with my ranger earlier today.

Near the start I put my points into marksman, so I could get the 10% damage bonus on full endurance then 10 points into beast mastery so I could get the Masters bond trait. Theres wasn't really much going on for me in the Skirmishing tree up to level 10 so I skipped it. At level 40(I stand corrected) you have to buy a book which increases your trait cap in each tree from 10 to 20, at this point all your trait points are reset so it really doesn't matter what you do.

You will be level 40 in no time. You may not have noticed this but although you cant swap where you put your trait points, you can swap the skills in the trait tree out of combat, I didnt know this until I was level 50 or so as I assumed you couldn't do it. I've never needed to respec but apparently its cheap enough if you really need to do it.

I thought this too - I'm sure it was lv30 that you got the second book, spent a while farming stuff and selling it to get that shiny gold piece together only to discover that I can't use the damn book til I'm lv40 :(

Bah, nevermind, another 10 levels wont take long. I better edit that out before someone reads it and takes it as gospel. I forget how old I am sometimes :D

Me too, and I'm only 26! Besides, I'm sure it was lv30 - maybe they changed it? They do that, y'know.

Edit: Damn, I'm 27.

Edit 2: Damnit, 26! Night shifts aren't always conducive to eloquent cognition

Meh, always takes me so long to settle on a class in mmo's, more so in GW2 :p

It's not that I do alts, I do rerolls, and have ended up now with an 80 Ranger (first class I played, just got tired of the pet mechanic pretty soon on), an 80 Warrior (the second, while engaging in PvE, is very one-dimensional in tournament PvP), and am now playing a Mesmer currently at level 43 which so far has been the most enjoyable experience :) 209 hours played in total if anyone is curious~

Resetting traits should be free as it is in PvP. As a warrior I can't really run a heavy DPS build in dungeons. Currently I either have to pay to respec or keep levelling using defensive traits which makes levelling obviously a lot slower.

I can echo others though as melee is hard work. More often than not I switch to ranged for big events as melee you can't see anything and are almost guaranteed to be on your back at some stage.

I dunno how people are struggling with money in this game ?! I'm level 13 and I have nearly 2 gold now already  Then again I have no crafting skills except cooking. So every single matt I get I wack on the TP. I've made a small fortune by doing that :D I also check items on the TP to see if they are worth anything if not I then check a vendor see how much its worth again if its not worth much salvage it down and sell the matts again.

The crafting seems like to much hassle to me at lower levels and well I think its cheaper to just buy equipment/weapons off the TP at the lower levels. So I'm not worrying about it as I get to higher level I might look at crafting again since the XP is a % on your level so I could "power level" a crafting skill and get a load of XP while I'm at it :p

But especially items like vial of weak blood you can get almost 60c - 70c per vial. I've racked up loads of that and sold them on for a nice tidy profit :)

I think tonight though I'm going to have a bash at that Mists (PVP) thingy area looks like it could be fun since I have not really done much pvping in this game so far... then again only level 13 :p

edit: oh and investing (or crafting) a full set of 8 slot bags is deffo worth it ! The amount of times I kept running out of space was unreal while out and about questing.

This. Initially I started crafting. But soon realised its just not worth it at the start. I'll come back to crafting at the end.

I had about 50 levels worth of collected crafting stuff shoved in storage untouched, decided last night to flog it all on the TP.

Went from 3g to 7.5g just by selling all the cooking/crafting stuff I'd picked up while questing!

Are you sure I only paid 55€ in July for it bought it before leaving for holidays so I could play in the beta weekend in July.

I doubt it was 55€ and 50 quid.

Yep, 100%.

I bought for early access 2 weeks before release and paid £50 on Arena Net's website.

Think quite a lot of people on here did too.

Really enjoying the game at the moment, hit level 56 too and running around in the 60+ area :D. Only problem is now im lost and im too cheap to teleport out...

Yup it was deffo £50 on launch from Anet.

Ha, I did that last night, was mapping an area, went through a portal to the adjacent one for a quick spy, happened to agro pretty much every Minotaur in the world... this accurately depicts my ranger heading calmly back to the portal:

I don't know what it is, but has anyone else's World Map gone all jittery? The game is playing fine as ever, but when hitting 'M' and switching to the map it's like it's suffering from severe lag. The worst part is zooming in and out, I scroll the mousewheel and it doesn't react, then about a second later it plays catch up. I've ruled the mouse out as the '+' & '-' keys on the map screen have the same effect, and in game the mousewheel zooms as smooth as ever.

have you installed new drivers, or played about with the nvidia control panel ? - I did and it made my map go very clunky -- then i found this after a quick google

"I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti and after messing around with this problem I found a solution.
Go in Nvidia control panel, 3D settings and
1) Disable Ambient Occlusion, GW2 is not compatible with it.
2) Set Antialiasing Transparency to Supersample x8. I noticed the FPS drop on map zoom is caused by AATS being set on Multisample."

that solved it for me. hope this helps !

I'm glad I'm not the only one finding melee abit meh in bid encounters/events. I don't really like switching to a ranged weapon as I started a melee class for a reason lol.

Anyone know if this is something they might address? Also another question, are there no cloaks in the game?

Not that i've seen. But its a bit odd as there is 'back' armour, and the image for it is very cloak like. But it doesn't actually appear when you equip it.

I've not seen any, if not I hope its something they add. Ever since having guild emblems on cloaks in Daoc, I have loved cloaks and wanted them in every MMO since (preferably with emblems on) , oddly enough I noticed last night when I bought my guild emblem armour that not only does the guild emblem show on the front of your chest armour , but also shows on your back

Agreed, emblems on cloaks in DAoC was awesome, just seems a little odd that cloaks don't appear to be in the game yet o.0
