Guild Wars 2

Response from CJS.

Dear Sir,

we are very sorry for this issue. We are currently contacting suppliers regarding the issue and will make sure that you receive the correct region key

It is the same response i got, tempted to just ask for it to be canceled and to get it elsewhere. I don't honestly care about my GW1 account, it only has like 3HOM on it as i started it a few months ago. I don't rememeber my original account at all, made it when GW1 first came out hence why i rebought.

So can anyone who didn't buy from CJS confirm that they can select European countries from the dropdown list?

Bought from ANet and I could select from the Euroland Servers. Not that it helped because I couldn't actually get in and play until this morning anyway. :(

I'm really enoying the Charr vibe. Some mini-bosses kicked our asses, others folded like paper.

I'm prepared to wait and see if they can actually get bona fide EU keys; the free gems in the beta don't carry over into the live game anyway, so I'm not overly concerned about those, however I would like to be able to purchase some if needs be when the game goes live.

They've probably been swamped with similar complaints so I won't be holding my breath. If they can't come up with the goods I'll be asking for a refund.

Yup i'll be doing the same and enjoying my GW2 weekend. If they mess me around after, i'll just ask for a cancel.

WvWvW has been very disappointing for me so far - both in terms of actual gameplay and performance. It's just a mindless zerg, really, I don't see what all the hype and gaming-press fawning was all about. Large scale combat feels horrible, for reasons already enumerated in this thread: particle effects and combat visuals are simply terrible, the UI and combat system isn't informative/intuitive enough to really have a clue what is going on, intricate movement system feels pointless in a 20v20 square-off, etc... I don't know, it just feels really misguided. Almost like it shouldn't exist, considering how the game is clearly designed from the ground-up for small-scale encounters.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm new to the game, but the combat UI, as just mentioned, really is pretty lousy. I appreciate the minimal design and streamlining but when you are under attack from 2-3 foes, you just can't even tell what is hitting you-- or from where. I feel like basic sound-design is lacking on this front, too: whereas in other games having a negative effect applied to you will trigger a sound-effect, as well, in this game I'm not getting the same sort of guidance. The combat itself, 1v1 and in small situations, feels absolutely great. But I know that isn't enough in-itself. I'm sure we all remember Age of Conan, with its own innovative combat-combo system: it was applied and integrated horribly.

Combat is growing on me, after my initial hour of been unsure now a bit further in i'm understanding it more - like the way actions are linked to items and the more you you use an item the better it gets. Game seems to be running smoother for me so not sure if the initial lag was just the servers creaking under the strain :)

******* nora, just read about all this Cj's nonsense - it's the same for me. I have used Cj's in the past but never for an MMO, I'm not sure I will again either.

Just emailed them asking to look into it for me and hopefully supply an EU code, if they can't then I'll start a Paypal dispute too.

I've started streaming again, not sure how long I'll be able to today though. I've only had one or two lag spikes all morning.

How do you get into WVWVW? Not seen the option anywhere, I assume it's an NPC you need to talk to?

fighting a lot easier changing strafing to A/D rather than Q/E

Not a bad game so far, was expecting more but it's early days

anyone in a guild in desolation?

Not euro servers, check for euro countries in the gem store after trying to buy the 2000 free gems.

I'll simply open a PayPal dispute, get a refund and then buy directly from arenanet instead, I'll email arenanet support as well to make sure I don't lose my GW1 account.

I've got to say that any sort of competitive PvP really is not viable in this game without Shift/CTRL keybinds. At the moment to use my utility skills I have to use keybindings that are just not convenient or quick-to-use at all. Very puzzling that they don't accommodate for this in an MMO. Such a small and basic thing!

One thing I hate is not being able to change which keys my skills are assigned to like I could in GW1. Number 6 for self heal is terrible, I would want that on number 3 so I can click it quickly when needed.

I think a naga mouse is required to play this game without extra difficulty due to pre determined skill binding.

You can change the keybinding of any skill (check your options), but as I said without shift/CTRL combination abilities you are forced to use standard keys around the WASD layout that will infringe on other game shortcuts. For e.g. the R,T,F,G,H keys which are all nearby and accessible to the movement/strafe keys are all already bound to game menus and options. It's like there's no keyboard real-estate left without a shift/CTRL option, so you're practically forced to use numbers 6-0... or to resort to mouse-clicking like an idiot. It's terribly thought-out for a game that supposedly prizes itself on 'competitive PvP'.

What MMO isn't like that? Just unbind the menu shortcuts, it's not like you'll ever need them in a hurry.

my razer naga's getting a lot of use out of the side buttons

is there a way to get to the character select screen without logging out?

Every other MMO I have played has allowed shift and CTRL combination keybindings. It's quite standard - especially for an MMO with the pretense of having a 'competitive' or 'hardcore' PvP, like this one does. It's a shame because the small-scale PvP system in this game is really promising and seems to be done very well... however the basic keybindings do not support it. Such a tiny thing to overlook!

I'm also still not sure why the Guild Wars games refuse to have player duelling. You'd think for a game that puts player vs player skill so highly at the forefront that they'd provide a way for players to actually practice.
