Guild Wars 2

performance was slightly better. from bwe1 2 and 3, it has improved gradually.

What can i say, Bwe3 is very stable and sound. It is ready to be unleashed fully IMO.

not much bugs/tweaks needed imo. the game runs bug free. no noticable game breaking bugs or lag for me which is great.

About the game. The game itself is a masterpiece. from the game levels/graphics, to the storyline and gameplay.

It all comes together to create such a fantastic dynamic world you can play in and experience.

There is 10000's of things you can do, from doing dynamic quests, WvW to just collecting a whole leap of items to create new armour or weapons!

Sooo many things to do in this game.

Whats revolutionary/refreshing?
  • Dynamic quest events, no more telling u to go from point a to point b. learn to read teh quests yourself and figure out what to do!
  • WvWvW.
  • How PvP/WvWvW allows a level 1 char to join in and be competetive from the ground up. no more leveling to max level like other mmo's to reap the benefits of pvp!
  • Game world design. see Lions Arch!
  • No monthly fee's on a game that same size as other mmo's you have to pay
  • Combat animation and system is refreshing. lots ov variations. for example your char will limp if injured during a fight!
  • Did i mention the quest system?

This game will be played by me and i imagine millions of others for years to come. They have nailed it with this game. a true breath of fresh air.

How would i sum up gw2?

one word, unique/refreshing.

every mmo, take a bow son, this is how you to try and shake up the genra!

Vega how many of your 7970s does guildwars use? I'm thinking of going 3930k for the release, I'll buy a tested 5.2ghz sample from a place I know. I'd always planned another 7970 when it'll be utilised.

Spot on, agreed I cannot praise this recent build enough. I am getting withdrawal symptoms from the beauty of exploring. Been looking around outside for things to jump up...........the jumping puzzles might weirdly be my favorite bit lol

That's some very high praise. I wonder if it will do as well as you think, nothing is a given!

From what I've seen it definitely can be amazing, but holding people's interest for a long time is a fairly big challenge.

I think it will do well for a number of reasons i have pointed out in my post.

Another couple of reasons is this:

ArenaNet are no ametures, Gw1 held its own against Wow for years and apparently some devs from ArenaNet originated from Blizzard

Last and the most important thing is that its free to play. You are not forced to chunk up £10 a month to play it. You can infact play this alongside wow etc for the same price as playing one mmo.

You can play this game for a few months, take a break and play again without any monthly fee's

"Free" when done right can be a powerful tool to success.

My feedback for the BWE.

Having played all 3 beta weekends the game has been improved upon with each update.

The addition of the Asura and Sylvari really flesh out the story of the entire game, the Asura an excellent quirky race who resemble the posh geeky kids. There smart and they know it.

The Sylvari are a very spiritual race and while I prefer there story over the Asura one, the Sylvari zone was more appealing to me.

I played both a Thief and Guardian this BWE. The thief I got to level 12 before deciding to change, as much as I enjoyed it and had always intended to play as a thief it just didn't work out.

The guardian I got to level 30, played part way through Ascalon Catacombs (couldnt finish due to connect issues). Really enjoyed the play style of the guardian, the combat and utility offered were excellent. They are also exceptionally strong when played right, I manage to solo a level 31 champion at level 28, it just took me 15 minutes :)

Didn't do any PVP due to the queue system being a bit of a mess but was so utterly engrossed in the PVE side of the things it didn't matter. I spent a decent amount of time crafting as well. Got weapon smithing to 125 and despite gathering resources being a very time consuming aspect the actual craft system in place is fantastic and coupled with the incredibly good trade system I can see hours and hours being spent on both.

The black lion trade network is by far one of the best implementations of a trade system i've seen in years and puts the likes of swtor, wow and diablo 3 to shame, not only is it easy to use but the versatility it offers is second to none. Not once was I sat there thinking if only it had this, that or the other.

Performance was flawless for me, even streaming 1080p all weekend it was faultless, during massive events with dozens of people it was still silky smooth. There were a few graphical glitches in some areas of the asura and sylvari zones but they are minor and dont detract from an otherwise excellent game.

I see a few people say that there are enough events in the lower area's and to some extent I agree, starting out the level 1-15 zones have maybe 16-20 renown hearts to complete along with maybe a few events, which are fairly simple and don't have much if any impact on the world.

By the time you reach the next zone (sylvari area at least) events start to impact the world around you, most if not all the 15-25 zones will have one or more meta events, these are large multi chain events that change the world around you. My experience of one such event was in the sylvari area, undead are invading a camp side, you had to drive them away, then find the source and eventually defeat the boss, which as per the tutorial quest is a giant screen filling boss that requires you to be on your feet and alert, rewards were a boat load of karma, experience and a chest with multiple blue, green items.

Ascalon Catacombs was fantastic not only was it hard but it was also very rewarding, so to speak. Loot was ok although we only managed to kill the 3rd boss before I had connection issues and couldn't continue. I found as a guardian I needed to swap out a few slot skills to better aid my team. I opted for using skills that remove conditions from my allies and offered minor heals this was sufficient to get us through with minimal casualties. It is not a place you can just jump into and steam roll through, it requires team work and knowledge of your class, which is why I believe level 30 is right on the money for it.

Anyway, excellent game. August 25th can't come soon enough.

Great session last night, us Umbral Grotto being a pain in the cheeks for Fissures of Vow? and another Server we just referred to AG.

I was away this weekend so didn't really get to play.
I did sneak 45min in on my brothers account last night (Char Mesmer), and I liked what I saw :D

Looks like its living up to a lot of the hype that has been building since it was announced way back when. I'll be sure to give it a purchase

I am defiantly set on playing a Thief now, i tried almost every class in this BWE, and had the most fun with a Thief, so Thief it is! Roll on launch day now.

Wonder if that's a SLI issue, last time I was running SLI this time was on a angle card and the game looked brilliant, a definitive upgrade on the graphics, maybe it was just SLI I'm sure it will be sorted by release, be surprised if its not.
