Guild Wars 2

So ArenaNet confirmed over 1million boxes sold of the pre-order (so you lucky people that got the 3 day headstart) with 400,000 users concurrent (ToR only managed 350k online at the same time).

What sort of numbers do people think it will have sold by the end of the 1st 3 months?

The fire-elem boss at the end of the Asura start zone is a terrible encounter, awfully designed. It is provoking a near-nonstop tirade of the old 'melee vs ranged' Beta debate in /Map. But seriously, it is pretty disappointing :p

Thought i would put this out there, i just got kicked from the Immortals for being in a 5 man friends social guild. So much for being a friendly casual guild, Wab is kicking people on official release day! Ahwell guess i should have listened to certain people on this forum.

Ha...my main is a Charr Necromancer!

I am surprised that the guy running the survey is surprised by the race/profession 'stereotypes'.

I'm still trying to figure out how to remap my mouse/keyboard. Very much enjoying Charr and azure 'character'

Interesting poll.

Norn I can understand being less popular - I mean I've already had my fill of that sort of style in skyrim, so not interested in playing it.

Number of humans is surprising.

Good that mesmer is least popular, I'm planning on it for second character, although I'm not sure what race.

I did that encounter and it was just wiping everyone. Also, when it eventually went down. We got no XP, loot or anything :(

This isn't the Immortals forum even if it is a OCUK guild. Don't bring even more drama here please.

I agree there should no surprise.

I would never have a caster on Norn/Charr as it doesn't fit, whenever I think big tank sort of guy I'm always thinking Norm/Charr. No surprise the most humans as they fit with everything that and the majority will be human female teen pervs :p

Weirdly the norn casters have some of the best cultural armor.

I mean, who doesn't a huge ram head on their shoulder while they hurl balls of fire at their enemies?

It is pretty stupid. Add that to the fact there's a blind bunch of GW2 fans that simply praise Arenanet for making anything 'difficult', in the vaguest sense of the word. Some people are now so eager to find praise for GW2 that a poorly-designed encounter is being confused for a purposefully challenging one. The fire-boss just chokes people on that bridge - most of whom hang back to revive others - and makes it an insta-gib zone. Hardly anyone makes it into the main chamber to actually fight the boss, and meanwhile all the people getting choked on the bridge scale the encounter's difficulty ever-upwards. Add that to the insta-death AoE fire and the stupid hitboxes on the moving flames (i.e. they are much wider than their animation appears), and you have a massive headache. It's not 'difficult' or challenging through any particular design... it's just dumb. I really was not impressed with it as a 'zone finale' encounter.
