Guild Wars 2

It is quite worrying now, ive had 3 of these emails since saturday.

The email address i used was one i made specifically for GW2 itself, i know its phishing etc but id love to know how they've got my mail addy in the first place

The only worrying bit about it as you said, how did they get the email addresses. It seems that tony people that have registered their game are getting the emails. In my opinion someone has access to information that they shouldn't.

There is no security in place, rift has coin lock, swtor has authenticators, wow does too, Tera has an app, I always use these but Guild wars 2 doesn't have anything I can optionally use if I want to protect myself. I've now had dozens of these emails and have not clicked a single one ever and I'm worried someone is magically going to take my account from me :( My precious crystals!

Did you use a password you use elsewhere? I've decided I'm changing my password to a completely random string of characters and symbols and numbers tonight with a few lower and upper case letters and accented letters thrown in too. no one steals my popo!

I did I had it on my actions to change the password but didn't want to reset the password during this busy time and open up a possibility of breaking the account. If I don't hear from Anet by the time I want to use GW2 i'll just register my new code.

Not happy that they don't send an email to the original email address with you have changed your email address, click this if it isn't you - it's not rocket science!

Guys change your e-mail adressses, if you read that GW2Guru thread people are reporting losing acccess to their accounts 24 hours after IGNORING the email.

Do not click the link in the e-mail, but login to the Guild Wars 2 website and change it.

:/

You'll probably find thousands of people who don't have GW2 are getting the mails too, hell, I get a few Runescapes ones every week and I've never played it.

I wouldn't be jumping to "OMG ArenaNet hacked!" conclusions. The same thing happened with SWTOR, people were swearing blind they'd used authenticators and still got hacked, it just wasn't true.

Exactly. I get the same Runescape ones (saying that I've been trying to sell my account), yet I've never even played the game or created an account for it.

I just changed my email adress in the account setup and I got an email sent to the original email saying that the email adress had been changed.

BUT it doesnt have any links saying "if this isnt you, please click here"....I love how they say "hopefully you!" with a slight tongue in cheek blasé attitude.

Are there any tweaks/tips for getting better performance? This is the first game that has brought my laptop (3610 sandy, 16gb ram, 7970m graphics) to its knees, at 1920x1200 on low detail im only getting 30fps, at full detail, 10!

I also get these. Set up a spam filter for it now. But I'm regularly getting Diablo 3 emails and I don't own Diablo 3... I'm getting more than 3 per day...

Very strange...

I would imagine a setup like that would handle the game with no issues.

I'm only running on a 560ti, 4gb ddr3 with a Phenom 955. Thats on ultra graphics settings at 1920 x 1080 and im getting around 50fps.

As far as I'm concerned this is ANet's problem. It's happening to far too many people to really be a case of 'check your computer for viruses and trojans'. It's gross negligence to just say that everyone has individual infections and has been individually compromised. This is endemic, and way too many people are receiving these emails for it to be isolated cases of people with keyloggers on their system. I am 100% confident that my clean install OS is virus-free, and now I'm being panicked into changing my account email address? What? ANet need to take some responsibility here. If I lose access to my account I WILL expect their Support to fix it. I am not going to settle for 'oh you lost your account because you didn't take steps x-y-z to prevent being hacked'. That's not how it works. I didn't have a hack scare like this in 6 years of playing WoW - even in vanilla days when my account was worth nearly $1000.

I found out the problem, I was using my laptop on battery last night and had switched over to the onboard graphics. Its working now although I still get tearing with vsync on in game and in video card options.

Yeah I know, Im an idiot! I usually have it plugged in so never switch. Get 60fps now with everything on full other than lighting on the second best option, this tearing issue is bugging me though.

Agree 100%

I stopped my warrior at lvl 25 today and had a we go with an Engineer to level 10, now heading offshore so that's it for 3 weeks :(

Found it a bit overwhelming at times, lots of utilities to deal with, defo something that needs some research.

Anyone know if desolation is full?

You can move over pretty much every night after 11pm GMT when people start going to bed. ANet's server population system seems to be based only on current players, which is pretty disastrous tbh. Everyone is slowly using their free transfers to hop ship to the same 2-3 servers. This is not going to end well.
