Guild Wars 2

Shortbow, every thief should have shortbow as their second. The AOE effects are immense, very useful in dynamic events.

Personally I'm running with Pistol/Dagger as my primary (not as many AOE options but the mobility is ridiculous, very easy to avoid melee damage) and bow as secondary

I have been really enjoying the thief (lvl37) and my god the time justs flys, I have stacked heavly with condition damage and duration. I have 2 daggers equipped and all posions and every time i dodge i lay down some spikes that increases bleed and also slows.

I just watch the health go down and thats it. I am struggling for the second weapon set. Does any1 have any ideas on which I can do?

Hi

I play a thief but on the other side of the coin and went dual pistol, my advice for a second weapon set would be something with range pistol +? or a bow (i am no fan of bows though) there will be times when you have to use range to stay alive :D

So when you say AoE is that the poison and then bomb arrow (what ever you call it) and isn’t the auto attack bounce between the mobs?

It doesn’t feel like I am contributing to the fight if I have that lol but will give it ago tonight.

im currently doing my warrior and it is good as a charr love the story to it, i like the wep combos too i love the duel axes and my main and bow as my ranged. this game is great and i love the its ftp also as u dont have a commitment to level as fast as posiable. i am only 28 and been leveling slow but thts a good thing for this game IMO. wat is end game like. any follow warriors want to hand out tips for pvp as i seem to suck at it haha

Shortbow is still more effective, primary attack hits 3, posion area of effect can hit a very large group and cluster bomb can hit a very large group (and also does bleeding).

might be but i need "heart seeker" to finish of running foes :D

the aoe is just to tag big groups else I use my dual pistols, personal pref ofc

Decided to give my warrior a more defensive spec last night and go through a few explorable dungeons. It's so much better than going the usual dps route. Survivability is much better and I feel more in control.

yeh at first i was goin to do that and it worked, i changed it to more power to see the difference but i dont think it made much more. as the defensive u still do a fair bit of damage still. considering going bk to defense or try a different approch haha

I generally go condition damage on my thief for wvwvw and pve. Pistol/Dagger and Shortbow give you massive amount of bleeds and poisons and the mobility of the '3' skills on both keep your survivability high. Doesn't work so well in spvp for me though where frontloading the damage seems to be a better option.

Any thief who doesn't run shortbow is missing out on one of the best escape tools and gap closers in the thiefs arsenal in my opinion (infiltrators arrow!)

i see your point for gap closer and escapes with the bow, i can give you that, but i have utilized other moves for that,

"Roll For Initiative" gets me out of trouble and gain initiative :used it a few times like a pimp, like back into a keep for eg :D
"Shadow refuge" makes me and allies invisible, lots of uses, when resing, finishing foes or running away
"Caltrops" slows foes and bleeds which is helpful

i have taken traits that give me haste when i dodge and power as i dodge like a monkey fallen out a tree which helps :D

My stats are what i can find and spare so have a mixture on my gear :D

Hit level 50 this morning - as far as I am aware I now have three dungeons I can do? I've only been doing the zones by level reqs, so have 100% done all starter cities and zones up to Lornar's Pass. Should I stop where I am and do the dungeons or am I not missing out by carrying on completing zones?

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but anyone using a HD 7XXX series card and is experiencing drops in fps in events and WvW - download the Catalyst Application Profiles http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx They've added a profile in specifically for Guild Wars 2. I tried it last night and have to admit it actually made quite a difference. It works for both single and crossfire setups, I'm using a single 7950.

I've not opened a map with a dungeon in it yet and I'm level 38 :) I don't like having to talk to people to form groups either I just like to join and queue but meh I'll have to get used to this old fashioned way despite hating all other humans and communicating with them.
