Guild Wars 2

I'm pretty sure there isn't, if that was true I would have got lots initially then it would have dropped off. I saw very consistent drop rates.

I think it's well established that the code is there (well, online forum consensus, to assign that however much credence you see fit) - but now that I think of it all the mentions of it have been in relation to gear drops, not crafting mats, so they may be unaffected.

Yes, I don't get it at all.

You and your team are meant to control and defend as many things on the map as you can, against two other servers. You get certain points for each type of thing you control, with the best being the castle on Eternal Battlegrounds. The team with the most points in winning.

If you're new then it might be worth finding your teams 'zerg' and taking as many things as you can. Of course the zerg will always end up running into some castle with full supply and getting owned.

If you see an enemy supply animal walking around, kill it and their buildings wont get any supply, they will eventually run out and be unable to repair their gate. Then your team can take control of it quite easily with enough people. Attacking somewhere with full supply and a good defense is really difficult. If you have a small team of friends, it would be good to sneak around the map taking every supply depot, then your zerg can pwn. It's a team effort remember :)

and what is the Eternal Battleground? I went in a WvWvW server and it was like, do you want a normal server or eternal battleground..how do they differ?

Not really - it makes botting or just farming the same area again and again unprofitable, but rewards people who set up more complex farming circuits, especially across different zones. Otherwise you'd end up with a couple of events getting spam-farmed and new players unable to do them properly.

(note: apparently that's still happening, despite being stupid and unprofitable - GG hordes of idiots!)

I don't farm much at all, just not built for it, but I highly doubt this, anything to back this up? every single MMO in history has set a few place per level as farming places.

About to get this game, I loved playing holy/prot paladin in WoW and Bounty Hunter (Powertech) in SWTOR - any recommendations on which character to start with?

Guardians the most like a pally, heavy armour and lots of buffs with some healing.

They are also really easy to level as they are almost unkillable and have good aoe damage. The only downside I would say is the ranged damage which is a little weak compared to the other classes which can hurt you in pvp, but aslong as you play smart you can do quite well in melee with teleports and charges.

Doing some SPvP, downed players seem to teleport around and and disspoear, next to impossible to finish them off, is that a skill or yet another massive bug in this game -_-

been playing SPvP while waiting for eternal queue, as eternal pops up, spvp goes to next level and auto cancels eternal battle queue, so after 2 hours of waiting I had to requeue.

The negatives starting outweight positives

Damnit, just spent nearly 3 hours trying to do that damn jumping puzzle in Caledon Forest - the dark conclave one, or whatever it's called. Gf did it just fine on the 5th or 6th attempt, but not since, and I can't seem to get past that one stupid jump where you have to go just to one side of the mushroom to the dipped edge and strafe in mid-air to land on the edge of it. Stupid design - I like a challenge, but that's just dumb luck more than anything else. Doesn't help that the drop is enough to kill you outright and the lower area is filled with veterans and tough packs that make it really hard for anyone to res you. Did Sharkmaw Cavern, the one in the Charr homeland, the long one in Metrica Province all with no problems, but this one is driving me crazy :(

Pretty much every class has some way of disrupting you from finishing them -- for some that involves blinking. Mesmers are also 100x more annoying than thieves ever will be when it comes to this D: The Guardian knock back is 110% troll etc D:

Are there any benefits to having crafting, I managed to get my letherworking to 400 yesterday but it's kinda pointless when you can buy all the gear from AH for less that actual mats itself. There doesn't seem to be anything that isn't bind on pickup in this game.

EDIT: some exotic gear for Rangers sell for below 1G already which is kinda crazy considering mats itself cost more that that.

Are they the same stats though? some gear won't sell well because the itemisation is poor.

:D that one is fun.

You don't need to strafe jump mid air. What I did was stand in the right hand side of the mushroom and just jump diagonally across to the middle of the next mushroom. Normal jump. I can make it every time.
