(This is more a connectivity test, but might be right for the HTML forum also - Dons move as required).

Could I get some quick help on my hosting server please? I found what seems to be a decent host in the US (required for needs) so I'm just checking out its connection to the UK - speeds in the US are great and have been tested. I have done some tests myself, but my line isn't really that great (4Mbps tops) so I just wanted a good test of speeds). I tracert to it in 7 hops which is great and ping is about 110ms. I downloaded last night at 350KB/s which was great (and probably my connection held me back) so if anyone could please help me out, this would be great.

First note: Entanet and NTL/Telewest 10MB (or any other fast connection) subscribers might be best for this (hoping to switch to an Enta reseller soonish and NTL'ers have good speeds for download test).

Right, first up, could I have some pings and traceroutes on the following domain (just as a quick test on my hosting server here).

TEST FILE REMOVED TO CONSERVE BANDWIDTH - MANY THANKS FOR THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED.

If you could, can you post results in this format:

ISP:
Download speed:
Code:
Tracert and ping results

This would be GREATLY appreciated - and I know you guys are always wanting to test out your connections, so hit me! :D.

Thanks again,

Smids.

Downloading that file at 240-300kb/s on a 7MB connection, but that is most likely just Nildram being rubbish as normal.

Can't ping or tracert from my connection but averaged about 300k/s for the 100mb file, ranging from 270-310.

Good - sounds perfect then - don't need any more speed that that over here and pings seem fine. Thanks guys :D. I'm actually getting better speeds than you - currently 380KB/s (nildram on a recently increased VP exchange).

Even better :D I'm liking this - most other hosts which I tested over there could only really hit 200KB/s and were pinging about 180ms over like 18 hops. Seems to be pretty good :D.

Very nice results I'm seeing - I think I found the right package for me.

I'll keep this running for the night maybe - after that I'll probably pull the test file down - don't want to eat out too much on a simple test (not that I need the rest anyway, but as with all hosts, they don't like you eating too much, even within the quota unless you lease...)

OK people - thanks for doing the downloads for me. To conserve bandwidth, I've pulled the test file. 101 views = potential 10GB bandwidth used which is a hefty chunk on a simple test.

My extreme gratitude goes out to those who took the time to test for me, it has been greatly appreciated.

Anyone who wishes to perform the traces and pings are still welcome.
