Guinness and Black

Has anyone sampled the delights of Black Velvet? Half a pint of Guinness, half cider, shot of vodka, shot of tia maria and a shot of black. Lethal stuff. I was out celebrating a few weeks ago and was having them set in front of me left right and centre.

It makes you do crazy stuff. Quite pallatable though!

where i live a black velvet is just guiness and cider...drink them all the time, adding spirits could be fun though :D

What do they do to it to make it "Extra cold" because what ever they do it makes me sick, it really is bad after they do that. I cant stand carlsberg or carling extra cold, its vile.. and i tried normal and extra cold guiness and i dont like either of them.

Anyone seen this new-fangled Guinness Red? I dont like the looks of it, pure, simply Guinness for me!

I find the name funny, because normal Guinness is actually a very dark red/ruby colour anyway!

yes tia maria in the guinny is nice but steady on its knock out material .
This is true!

Guinness red has been about before hasn't it? Although I don't ever remember seeing it anywhere.

Anyone remember Caffreys?

I've only ever drunk Guinness in its purest form before. Might have to try a black velvet (with the spirits)

Smithwicks or Kilkenny is where it's at

I used to drink Kilkenny's at our local O'Donaghue's when I was 17. Used to knock my socks off.

You can still get it. In fact, I think it's one of the few Irish alternatives that the supermarkets stock. It's a bit watery though.

Yes, i had some of this when handed it by my mate, who said, 'I think i've been served water ' So i tried it, it was beer, but water beer

Last night at a party i was drinking Guinness! And i had my 4th pint, so my mouth was pretty lacquered but i decided to have a Carlsberg. My logic behind this was, Ireland and Denmark are either side of england, so they should go down well together! Oh how wrong i was. It tasted horrible, despite that i had another 3 then went home at 2! At least i wasn't drinking a 4 liter bottle of frosty jack like another bloke there:cool:

Someone told me that 1 pint of guiness is 500 calories. Surely thats not right!? Not that Im bothered how many calories they are, was just intriuged.

First google:

Guinness is no more fattening or calorific than any other beer of similar alcoholic strength. The beer has no fat, however it does contain protein, sugar, carbohydrates and alcohol. The alcohol accounts for 65-75% of the calorific content irrespective of the beer in question. Per pint, Draught Guinness has 210 calories; as a reference, one pint of semi-skimmed milk has 260 calories and one pint of orange juice has 220 calories. Draught Guinness actually has fewer calories than most other premium beers and lagers.

All wrong. It's 70% peat bog, loaded with iron and at least 800 calories per pint. Dinner in a pint glass tbh :)

Stab in the dark but I think they make it colder.
