Gulf Mexico gas pipeline fire or Kaiju coming through the rift

It's a old rig, so probably heavy walled pipeline but I could be wrong never worked in the gulf so not sure what their standards are.

I did a lot of replacements on rigs in the gulf and west Africa.
Couldn't honestly say about this one though. If it's flexis there's a chance that it's blown through the carcas and pressure layers but that's very rare.

I have a very particular knowledge base, it never Normally comes in useful on these forms or outside of work.....

If you guys need knowledge in the following;
* Steel making
* Control and instrumentation systems
* HV AC or DC systems
* Industrial pipelines both gas or oil
* Industrial ups

Anything else you might as well ask a tree outside

If there ever was such a thing but that is the most Ron Swanson thing someone could ever say on these forums. :D

I'm on call for the whole of West uk this week, already had two meetings about HV compressors unavailability and the lack of LNG gas coming in through the terminals as the Asian markets are buying it all up, so North sea is ramping up so had approve the reconfiguration of a couple of Pri`s.

Yeah, I would have done the same. Obvious really!! ;)

I'm sitting West of Shetland right now; you got any advice on the best way to scrub seagull jobbies off the jacket tubular prior to new caisson clamps going on?

That's piqued my curiousity. Is seagull poop a significant problem? I live about as far inland as it's possible to get in the UK. Which isn't very far, but far enough to ensure I have no experience with seagulls.

Seen a few oil rig disasters reported on through my life but haven't seen anything quite like this before. Almost surreal footage, like something from a Sci fi/fantasy movie.

Can someone give Elba and Hunnam a call to dust off a Jaeger just in case
Question: why are they spraying water onto ... the ocean? :p Presumably a lack of water isn't the problem here!

Significant in this case as the surface has to meet required spec to ensure no friction between materials when the clamps are tensioned into position. Otherwise, no they just do their business without any impact to operations. The main issue they can cause is during helicopter flights and the pilot has had to avoid then on a few occasions for fear they'd get drawn into the engine gubbings.

Seagulls are a sight to behold out here. The wind could be gusting 100kts and they can glide in it like it's a summers day. They also defy the laws of physics by sitting on the flare stack in winter so close to the tip you'd think they were made of asbestos.
