[Guru3d]PCIe 3.0 vs 2.0 vs 1.1 performance scaling benchmarks

Guru 3d have performed and investigation into generational differences in PCIe performance effect using a GTX980 and SLI GTX980;

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/pci_express_scaling_game_performance_analysis_review,1.html

PCIe1.1 holds up surprisingly well showing, basically, no performance issues with a single GPU. And PCIe 2.0 only loses 3 -5% compared with 3.0 under SLI

Take it from me you do take a hit using PCI-E 1.0 I have tested it loads of times.:D

Guru3D are also very naughty just using SLI, if they had used CF as well those graphs would have taken a bigger hit lol.

I also wonder why they have avoided using max settings or high resolutions.:D

So motherboards that only allow PCIe 4x on multi-GPU setups are just as good as 8x or 16x ones when SLI'ing.

gone from GTX 670s with an i5 3570k (pcie 3.0) to a 2700k (pcie 2.0) apart from the processor allowing the cards more room to chug along can't tell a difference between the two pcie speeds
