About 3 weeks ago i bought a 8800gtx. Sombody has told me i could have got a 8800GT and not noticed a difference. :( The 8800GT is half the price of the GTX...

Sombody please make me feel better as i feel sick at the moment..

Is the 8800GT that good? :rolleyes:
 
The GTX is still a very good card, and will still blow away the GT no matter what your mate says. Too much hype over this card at the moment. Yes it's good for the money, but it isn't the 'best' card. It will perform better than the GT at higher resolutions and will enable you to use more AA and AF without getting a mega performance hit.

If however you game at 1280*1024 (or similar low/medium res) then consider selling and getting the GT, as you won't need the GTX's power at these resolutions.

Maybe it was not the most 'sensible' purchase right now, but at least your not a GTX wannabe with an overclocked GT lol ;) (you can always o/c the gtx big time and leave the gt crowd for dead in games (ignore 3dmark06 scores, they don't really mean anything)

Meh, i got it for £250 anyway. I game at 1600x1050 - im just gonna bite the bullet and be proad of my 8800gtx. :rolleyes:

What resolution you game at?

1280x1024 or under and you made the wrong choice. Over 1280x1024 and you are better with a GTX :)

EDIT: too slow :p
 
the minimum fps on the GTX is also higher than the GT at high res, so you can play with AA on at 1600

4xAA, fake AA at that, is not worth the money I would save. :p

Edit: According to FiringSquad minimum FPS rates are: -

1600x1200 - 0xAA
8800GTX: 16.6fps
8800GT: 16.9fps

1600x1200 - 2xAA
8800GTX: 23.8fps
8800GT: 19.4fps

I can live with that. ;)

I play at 1280x1024 with a 320mb GTS and average 50fps all on high, dont use AA or AF though, still, i get higher than that graph shows
 
i find that hard to believe before i bought my gt i had a heavily clocked 320mb gts running at 650/1650/900 and on medium i 'averaged' 28fps
shore i hit mid 60's but then something would move on screen and bosh that was gone.
on high my machine struggled to play the game at anything resembling playable. my gt plays the game much smoother and i average 40fps everything on medium high is like 25fps
 
Having gone from a GTX to a GT, I can tell you that Crysis is defo smoother on the GTX. ran with eveything high at 1680 x 1050 nicely.

The GT needs either shaders or post processing medium to be smoooth at that res.

Not too worried about it though. Used the spare cash on my quad :)
 
I can say that purchasing a GTX rather than a GT was an excellent choice for me, especially at 1680x1050, my computer runs anything I throw at it!
