Just got my Intel Sandybridge 2500k and asus p67 pro today from OCUK went to install cpu and thought socket retention lever was tight when opening. long story short build system but it would not post so i took off heatsink and MB pins where bent a lot of them and cpu seems damaged to

. I have photos to prove cpu it was fitted correctly because pcb on chip is undamaged. strange thing was motherboard box was unsealed on arrival is this normally the case with OCUK?

Ps anyone know how to send photo to OCUK?

Use a hosting website like imageshack or Photobucket to post the photos.

Most of my motherboards bought did not have a seals on them.

was the anti-static bag in tact? there is a seal on it?

Similar story when I built a BIOSTAR TPower I55 with i5 750, bios/windows only showed 2GB out of 4GB, did some investigating and low and behold I had 1 broken pin and 2 bent pins in different places of the socket.

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary to cause it, built about 6+ different Intel rigs prior to this happening, only thing I could think of was too much pressure of the Corsair H50 that I was using at the time.

I went to do an RMA with the retailer and they said because socket damage it's not covered by warranty, they even sent it to the distributor who handled Biostar's RMA and they also rejected the RMA.

Long story cut short, I gave them sales of goods act info - in the first 6 months it's upto the retailer/manufacturer to prove that the customer did the damage, ended up coming to an agreement, they offered me a Asus P55 Pro refurb so I asked if I could take the value and put 50% cash towards a Gigabyte P55 UD4 and they agreed.

It was enough to put me off building a Intel rig ever again with the flimsy socket pins they use, thats the only reason I'm sticking with AMD rigs - sockets millions times better.

It seems to me the front screw on mb that holds retaing arm is screwed in to deep on mb this in-turn pushed cpu to-far into socket

The CPU would surely have not fitted in the socket if the pins were already bent?

Cpu was fitted correctly pcb on it is undamaged. I have built 5 rigs before and have changed numerous components as i am sure most on here have.
