Gutter cleaning tools

They're probably fine for cleaning the actual gutter. But anyone who's cleaned their gutters knows that the actual blockage starts in the angled connection to the downpipe. Which I can't imagine these tools doing a great job of clearing, this is one you have to really get up a ladder to disconnect it.

I have chicken wire "sausages" in the gutter, over the downpipe opening. They clog up fairly quickly, even though I taper the ends to maximise the cloggable surface area, and can lead to overflowing gutters if not monitored, but as I'm in a bungalow for the time being, it's not too hard to check them regularly.

My old man called them hedgehogs . They're only really good for leaves though. It's the sediment that's the worst as that comes down with the rain, or run off from the roof, and no gutter guards can prevent that.

Last couple of times I have cleaned the gutter was up a ladder with a hose pipe. So just trying to find an easier way without getting up ladders.

The sediment issue is very true. Earlier this year I got my roof "professionally" scraped, cleaned and herbicide applied, as well as new guttering, soffits etc. The first time it rained...

The sediment that the scraping didn't remove was loosened by the first rain and just blocked up the leaf guards and gave me more issues than I had before! When they tried to fix it they let the sediment flow straight to one of my soakaways blocking that... You'd think that a company that does this stuff for a living would know about these issues but alas....

I would think the best gutter cleaning system would be one that uses a vacuum to remove the stuff from ground level which will be expensive. Otherwise get someone else in to do it.
