Guy over the road a ****?

I used to get a lift into Uni with a guy who couldn't reverse. He would spend about 20 minutes (even if we were late) finding a parking spot he could just drive straight into. Obviously he'd usually have to reverse to get back out again, and that would be a laboured effort that would last 5+ minutes at least.

Anyway, this thread reminded me of that.

For the sake of getting on with your neighbours (otherwise you could wake up one day to unexplained damage) I'd consider alternatives to parking there.

Can't you just block the other two cars in your drive in rather than park over his side of the road? Might seem trivial but it does grind a lot of peoples gears.

Exactly what I would do. Just make sure the car that is blocking the others in has the keys available at all times. Simples.

I have an extreme case of this on my Cul-de-sac, sometimes its a struggle to reverse in and out of my space (Silver Leon on the lower left )

The situation is a bit more improved these days since my wife lost her temper with the occupants of the house ...

I suppose they have the relevant planning permission and insurance to run a business from their premises then? Did anything ever come of you asking about it a while back (recall seeing that picture a while ago and you asking questions about it).

Not reallyy on tbh. looks like a proper grim situation for parking!

That was at its worst to be honest - things have improved a little since - combination of having a few quiet words with them and a few other disgruntled neighbours.

Yeah the council came along and painted some white lines along all of the dropped kerbs, not exactly decisive action but I reckon they've had a kick up the arse from someone ;)

It doesn't look like a council estate, so I can understand why the guy doesn't much fancy a bright gold Vauxhall Astra parked out front his house all the time straddling the pavement.

He's testing you to see whether you really are a **** or whether you're actually a half decent guy that knows how to do the right thing.

Totally this imo.

looks more like your parking in his neighbours front garden. to be fair, if i lived in either of those houses i would be pretty annoyed to find someone else's car dumped there. neighbourly disputes are just a pain in the rear and best avoided, just go move it and block your own housemates in so your only inconveniencing yourself.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand what the fuss is about? A ****ing monkey could reverse into that drive, and assuming you haven't nicked someone elses usual space then whats the problem?

Looking at the picture he doesn't seem to be inconveniencing anyone, neighbour just wants to make a point.

I would be asking if he was special or blind. Then hand him a card for a driving instructor. Your not causing any problems for him to get into the drive he is clearly testing you.
