H100 died....Custom Loop Time

H100 died. Still works but has an absolutely jet engine loud grinding noise.

Decided it's an ideal time to jump into the custom loop world and ordered up a crap load of goodies :eek:

Decided on trying something for a drain loop. That being a G1/4 threaded Koolance QDC3 male in the lower radiator which connects to the loop with a QDC3 female. But, to drain another QDC3 female on a piece of tubing can then be plugged in to the radiator QDC3 which will then drain out of the case. Well, that's the plan anyway

First time into the custom loop world and have ordered parts based off reading/research.

Stock levels are not great on OcUK which guided some of my decisions but it all should be compatible. My only slight concern is the flow rate the XSPC Photon Res/Pump combo can achieve as I read some concerns about it's ability. We shall see though.

Already use Corsair SP120s in my case so decided to stick with them.

1 question however. Do EX FC GPU blocks come with the required plugs? I could not find any product description or otherwise that hinted towards this so I ended up buying plugs independently just to be sure.

Mine came with plugs but had to buy the fittings seperately.

Did you go for the Photon 170 or 270? The 270 is mahoosive and a struggle to fit in a Switch 810.

You won't have the same space issues that I had then. Saw a lad buying a 900D last week in OcUK shop, struggled to carry it out of the shop the box was that big

How do you find the Photon?

Particularly resonance/noise issues with a pump coupled to the res/case and flow rate.

I've only tested it very briefly, seems to have plenty of power, flow rate much better than the X20 pump/res combo its going to replace.

Can't comment on the noise really as not tested with it mounted to case & sides on yet. Need to pick up some more tubing & decide exactly where its going to go inside the case - options are mounted right at the back or at a 45° angle in the front (which will mean losing the bottom rad) .

Kinda wish I had a 900D so I could just bolt it in

Yeah, was going to go for the smaller 170 but thought....sod it, need to fill the 900D

Will have to go shopping for distilled water before the kit arrives so I can flush rads/blocks! Along with a nice sharp razor blade to cut tubing with.
