H115i new build issues

Hi all, I’ve just installed windows on my new build and noticed that the fan speeds were very high, so once install was finished, I checked the bios and my CPU temp. The CPU temp was flicking between 89* and 90*C and the CPU fan was showing nothing.

I’ve got a Auros Pro WiFi Z390 motherboard and a I7 9700k chip. I also used Grizzly thermal paste.

I connected my USB connection to a USB header, the fans were working so are connected just fine I’d assume and the final connection to the CPU_OPT water cooling CPU fan header.

It was a new to me, refurbed unit purchased from OCUK so I have a 12 month warranty I believe.

I reckon the pump is not working, but I’m brand new to PC builds. I obviously don’t want to fry my chip, so have not downloaded the Corsair software.

I’ve ordered a H115i platinum, arriving tomorrow as a back up.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

If you can rest your finger on the pump with the machine off, then turn it on. You should be able to feel the pump start up.

Secondly, try plugging the pump/block into a MOLEX or SATA cable via an adaptor. This is because the BIOS may be set to not run whichever fan header you are using. So check the BIOS and set all fan headers to 100%.

First off all thanks for the reply.

I switched on the PC, the rad fans and Corsair RGB lighting on the pump fire up, but I can not feel any vibration or get any sense that the pump itself has turned on.

Am I likely to cause any damage to the CPU by having it run at higher temps whilst looking in the BIOS?

Cheers

I just powered up again, went into fan settings and set to full, but temp just kept rising and rising rapidly. Again no sign of the pump starting up.

Something is definitely wrong, it went from 35* to almost 80* in no time whatsoever.

How does the MOBO sense the CPU temp?

The motherboard is reading the internal CPU sensor to get the temperature.

EDIT: Finally loaded the Gigabyte page. Seems all 8 fan headers are hybrid and should support pumps so power delivery shouldn't be an issue. If the RPM is reading 0 in BIOS then likely pump is stuck or dead.

Thanks for that Bugbait, the Corsair rep on here reckons the pump is dead as well. It’s a shame, that and my new one doesn’t look like it’s coming today (should have ordered from here) so a longer wait than I hoped for.

If its the same as my corsair AIO then you need to make sure the header your using is set to voltage and 100% in the bios. Also make sure the 4 thumb screws are tightened right down, don't be worried about over tightening them as the stand offs will stop you doing damage
