Missis got me one of these yesterday for my B'Day, some questions...

Is push - pull beneficial?

If I was to install push-pull, do I need to have the unit sucking air in from outside in, or sucking air from inside of case blowing out?

Do I need to replace the fan that comes with it? It looks rather flimsy?

In a push pull configuration, do people have one of the fans sitting outside of the case?

I Have mine using the standard fan pulling cooler air from outside the case inwards

Not push/pull, only pull.

I did need longer fixing bolts

I'm running push/pull with 1x Akasa Viper and 1x Orignal supplied
(Will change out the orignal for another viper most prob)

Here is a picture for reference

Note: I still havnt got around to fitting the second(Bottom) intake fan, So only 1 intake at the front of the case at the moment.

Temperatures

Intel i5 760 @ 4GHz
Idle: 30-35c (Depends on room temperature)
100% Load in Prime95: 65-69c

The reason I decided not to listen to Corsair about having it as intake, as I don’t want it to dump all that hot air inside the case over my components. So would rather have it exhaust.

Hope this helps.

Btw, Happy B'Day mate!

The only time you would want to use it as an intake, is if you have a large enough fan just above it acting as an outtake.

But even then the temps are not that different in either intake/out take 1/2c on cpu temp, but higher mobo/case temp, thats why most opt for outtake, as it gives better overal temps.

Push/pull can aid in lowering temps, but give it ago with just 1 fan pulling, and see what the temps are. If you are fine with it, stick like that, if not then add another.
a lot iv seen have changed the stock fans, but bare in mind any fan running 1700/1800/1900+ will be load, so if you swap them deffinatly get pwm versions.

Also Happy Bday.

Not really, reduction in temps only comes in at higher temps when 2 fans start to become more effective that 1. For me at top end one prime 2 vipers knocked of 4 C but at idle I see no difference.

There is no absolute need for one way over the other. However temps are better when it sucks air from outside the case as the air is cooler than that in the case.

The standard fan is fine, only need to replace I would say when temps start getting hot under load for a bit extra cooling.

No. You could do if you case is small but in most cases there is enough room for both fans and the rad to be inside the case.

Ok well I guess hot air rises, so the top 200mm fan on the 902 should theoretically suck out the hot air that the fan sucks across the rad. I am wondering now if having a side exhaust on the 902 will benefit hot air being purged out of the case.
