Ok so I got an H70 and I'll replace the fans with Vipers shortly. Hopefully it will be a little quieter than my current setup.

Thing is I take it I should remove the TIM supplied with the H70 and use Arctic Silver 5 as per installing any other HSF?

Regards

James

MX4 very good thermel paste, rjkoneill who works for OCUK swears by it, so he even spreads it on his toast so he looks cool...

I'm sure it is. But Ive got buckets of AS5 here :D Might as well use that first.

Equally I can infer from your answer that it is indeed the case that you remove TIM and use AS5.

i changed from as5 to mx4 and dropped 3c idle....7c under load

just depends on how important temps are to you....

Looking forward to getting my MX-4 now it's been dispatched. I also went with dual Vipers and they make a big difference. Noise level is up a tad on my Noctuas but the drop in temps rocks.

I also got a couple of Akasa Vipers for the H70. I'll be fitting the H70 on sunday so lookign forward to a quieter and cooler pc. Then all I need to do is decide on changing a pair of HD 3970x2's for either a GTX580 if the price drops when the AMD 6990 comes out or if theirs not much in it get the 6990.

I never found MX3 that hard to use, though I never spread it around at all...

It was so cold out of the tube I got frost bite on my fingers and had to have them amputated!

Ok so my H70 is in with MX4 and a couple of Akasa Vipers. Quieter than the 2 Noctas on the old Heatsink :D Temps are down about 10c idle and maxing at 75c ish under load but hopefully may get a little lower when the MX4 settles in.

Very happy with it :D

On the down side my 2407 died this morning (think its the inverter so I might try replacing it) but will get a 2410 in any case in a week or 2 and if the 2407 can be repaired then bonus 2 x 24" monitors :D

I thought I had nothing better to do then plug the emergency spare monitor in only for the Enermax 850w PSU to go bang! I now have a Corsair HX1000 so hopefully that will last for a while. Was a good excuse to clean the case again :D

So in summary that was £700 ish of unplanned expense and back to where I started lol.
