H70 temps

So, I went with a pair of vipers.. and my temps went up?

I have 2 of them, acting as an intake?

Is it worth trying them the other way round?

What gives?

ok, I fitted a 2nd top fan (right now, I don't have the vipers in)

my min idles are now 26 - 30 - 33 - 30 which seem pretty good tbh

Im having the same problem,Im running a H50 with 2 Apache fans in push/pull config, just recently the idle temps have been at 29/30c which seems a bit high:confused: I know its been quite warm recently but its a bit worrying.
the CPU is an O/C AMD 9950 quad running at 3.0mhz.
Tried to O/C it to 3.2 and got an immediate BSOD:(
I should be able to O/C higher than that:confused: Seems as if the heat is killing it:eek:

I have the stock ones.
I tihnk having the second top fan helped a lot.

Will go back to the Vipers later today, and see how they perform!

Ok, reinstalled vipers today.
Temps as follows: (was running at just under 1000rpm)

32 - 36 - 38 - 34

Temp after 5 passes of intel burn are:

61 - 68 - 70 - 65

Do these temps still seem high for an H70?
Room isn't exactly cold, but isn't too hot either.
Also, I am guessing ambient doesn't affect load temps, and would only affect idle?

As V F said, ambient temperature affects everything! The effectiveness of a given cooling solution when comparing is not the temperature itself, but the Delta (difference) between the ambient temperature and the CPU.

Not sure what happened to your full reply Syphadeus? The email notification had the following, and you post doesn't say that it's been edited:
EDIT: Well, neither does mine, so I guess you did edit it..

Out of interest, what are you using to measure these temps? Bear in mind that the on die (per core) temps on Phenom 2 systems are not accurate temps. You need to use a program like Hardware Monitor to look at the single CPU temp, as that is more accurate.

For instance, I am running an 1100T at stock speed. Core Temp reports an average of 21c idle. Hardware monitor also reports this approx temp across the cores but lists the CPU temp as 30c. Since the room isn't being air-conned at present, the actual temp is 30c.

Under load both temp readings will rise. As the actual temp rises, the difference between the two temps (per core, and overall CPU) decreases, but the CPU temp is still the important one if you're concerned about thermal tolerance. As V F said, ambient temperature affects everything! The effectiveness of a given cooling solution when comparing is not the temperature itself, but the Delta (difference) between the ambient temperature and the CPU.

Anyway, I am using RealTemp to measure individual core temperature.
The Gigabyte monitor program reports the CPU temperature as one value, which is genuinely quite less that the coldest core.

Should I be using this value when monitoring temps?
Regardless, are the load temps OK, considering that I am using the H70 cooler?
I know I am in no danger, but just expect much more from it, that's all.
