My corsair h80 is running at 3800 - 4000 rpm instead of the 2000 rpm its meant to run at. Ive called the place i got it, they said bring it in this week for testing. Do you guys think it could be faulty

Are you sure it's not giving you the RPM readout from the pump as opposed to the fans? Try plugging the fans onto the motherboard directly if they're not already and see what they operate at.

I don't know what speed the pump on these things runs at, but 4000rpm is typical pump speeds, 2000rpm is typical for a high rpm fan.

Yeah thats exactly whats happening, if i plug the fans into the board they are about right? so how can i stop it telling me the pump 4000rpm already disabled all fan options in bios.no way is there for it to stop telling me pump speed

. Simple answer, you can't make it tell you the fan speed if you connect them directly to the CPU pump unit. The 3 pin connector from the unit has a single cable corresponding to the RPM readout which only tells you the pump speed rather than the fan speeds. You'd need something like the Corsair Link commander kit to get more functionality over the fans.

plugging the fans straight into the boards tells the the right fan speed, But the pump rpm is still being read as 4000.

Not sure what the problem is? The pump speed seems about right.

The pump should be 2000rpm mate, ive checked so many threads and thats what they all seem to say.

Hmm it might just be reading it incorrectly. The h100 pump is also 2000rpm but it's hard to tell since Corsair themselves don't say what it's meant to be. Check to see if the pump is being loud. Otherwise send them an email just to verify.

Yeah its loud mate, im thinking of taking it in to the stop on tuesday to see what they say. Maybe they can test it. Thanks mate.
