Just saw this last night; never seen it before. It really brought me back to my teens - it's hard to believe I completely forgot all the cool things that could be done with a touch-tone phone....some of the tech-speak was quite cringe worthy though!

Overall it was a bloody brilliant film, and Angelina Jolie looks gorgeous as always!

Can someone recommend films like this?
 
No no no - I stand by my opinion! The tech lingo when they are talking about hacking and computers...it's absurd, but the club where all the hackers hang out, that's brilliant! it's well funny...they coordinate a world-wide attack on a company OVER THE PHONE!!! It's classic lol
 
I agree, tech wise its very poor but its still a damn good film.

Anyone seen the sequel Hackers 2 Operation Takedown? Its based around the arrest of Kevin Mitnick, also a good film i thought.
 
yeah, it was dubbed Hackers 2: Takedown from what I've seen. I've also seen Antitrust branded as a Hackers film but I can't see why.

I loved Hackers - always made me want a laptop and to spray it with cammo colours. Man I was cool.
 
I swear i've seen a 2nd hackers film but, for the life of me i can't remember even a single second of it.

First one is funny, its actually quite well done in terms of camera/score/pacing and some of the script, ie the non cringeworthy stuff, some good lines in it. Jolie i think looks like utter crap in it though, short nasty hair, body not looking good, boobies thats it, i do like the boobies though.

I do quite like Johnny Lee Miller, he's in lots of random small and not well released films but he's mostly a very solid actor with very sporadic good parts. Most of the people in the film acted their parts very well, even if those parts were silly and how can you not like Penn :p ( or was it teller, wait, which one talks ).
 
How strange I watched this on Virgin On Demand yesterday! And then the guy who plays the bad guy 'Plague' was in Lost last night aswel. Wierd when these sort of things happen. Its worth watching if only for the split second glimpse of Angelina Jolies boob. :p
 
I really enjoy Hackers - it's just soooo bad that it's funny.

Soundtrack is pretty good. But Jolie just makes me want to do nasty things to my eyes with bleach... Other than her plastic pals, what does anyone see in her?

Honestly, you set up a line like that and it just begs for a response filled with innuendo if not outright filth.

However this is meant to be a family forum so I'll content myself with saying - Hackers, not all that great but entertaining enough to while away 90 minutes or so.
 
Yeah I love this film too... Angelina's knockers, computer funnyness and all round quality directing and story/scripting - can't go wrong! also the soundtrack is brilliant.

Will always be a space in my DVD collection for that... infact I think it was one of the first DVDs I ever bought!

Hahaha, I actually went through with it (well, a friends brother sprayed the chassis for me). It was a 486 lappy iirc with windows 3.11. God I was cool, my dad went mental, but it was worth it.

As for hackers, I watched it again last week, fantastic film.

Thread bumpage...this was on tv yesterday...Ive never seen it before, but have to echo the comments...its so bad its ridiculous, but it made it lightly enteraining. I think that was also due to how old the film is now!
