Hacksaw Blade Effect In BF2 :(

Right ive got this problem in battlefield 2, ( please see pic ) whenever i get near
a shadow it looks like a hacksaw blade, i have every possible graphical setting on max in the game @ 1280 x 1024 and everything maxed out in Ati CCC

Im using the new Cat 6.4's and had the same problem with the 6.3's

Does anyone have any ideas please

Do you get that effect on other surfaces or just shadows? It looks like normal jagged edges to me which anti-aliasing generally fixes.

i get that, its the crappy shadows in the game

I get that on shadows in some games, but not all. BF2 especially though.

its just the game, as long as your other textures are good i really wouldnt worry. but as a rule of thunb, dont use CCC for the bf2 settings, set CCC to defaults and do it all inside BF2. also make your you havent enabled temporal anti aliasing.

Right tonight i will set Ati ccc to default and leave all the settings maxed out in BF2,

I have however got Temporal Anti Aliasing enabled,

But everything in ATI CCC Was set the QUALITY

I will change it when i get home

Dont forget to clean out the cache folder if you're messing around with video settings in BF2.

Its nowt to do with your system.

Its the way the shadows are in BF2. theres nothing you can do

You could always try adaptive AA.

Another vote for the craptastic shadows caused by BF2 itself, i get em aswell.

I also get 'em in GT Legends.

I think its a crappy attempt at soft shadows that doesnt use too much performance, like bloom in some games as oppose to hdr.

I get that tooo on BF2. I think its jast crappy prgramming by EA....I also had the same issue when turning on the shawos in Need For Speed:MW (also an EA game!)

Well you say that but I OCed my 6800 and got that effect in guild wars... could be due to over overclocking...

Naw, the Battlefield 2 shadows are like that all the time. It's pretty poor.

Looked the same on my Geforce 6600GT and Radeon X800 GTO² (at stock speeds and overclocked,) so it's not an Nvidia/ATi thing, or a hardware thing at all really. I'm yet to try on my X1800XT, but I am not expecting much better shadows.

Well judging by the screenshot that was posted he's either got AA on 2x or not at all, that's what's 'causing the jaggies, look at the bottom of the chopper.
