I was sitting stationary about to park when i see a guy reversing at about 25 - 30mph.. i see he’s heading for me so i hold my horn on , he doesn’t stop he was a good 20 seconds away his car scrapes along my bumper and front wing.

my ms paint of what happened.

No witnesses stopped to give a statement so its his word against mine. The Police turned round the corner just after it happened so i have a producer as well now.

The police woman thinks its 50/50 fault , as there are no witnesses.

The damage to my car is £400 wing and bumper need resprayed. Obviously not worth going through insurance at my end as that is less than my excess.

On his car the damage looked similar but it was an old R plate car that looked as if it was going to auction.

He was loading the cars onto a transporter.

I hope it doesn’t go through insurance.

I know i was sitting with my horn on for a good while i really couldnt believe it.

The police officer was far far from helpful. Before even said what happened she came out with , with no witnesses it will be your word against his.

I was about to park.

did the collision happen on his side of the road?

He was reversing down the side of the dealerships side of the road. He was going round a park car when he hit me.

Do i have to report this to the insurers if we are dealing with it privatly?

Nothing new there then. Had a similar experience when I witnessed an accident earlier this year. The copper that took my statement replied to something I said with these exact words....... "RTA's don't give me a hard on!"

Did the person that crashed into you work for the dealership or a car transporter firm?

I think its an offence to reverse onto a major road but, people get away with it all the time and the Police wouldn't want to know really, its easier for them to do someone for speeding.

Ignore what the police woman said, if what you're saying is accurate, as it's clear that he was 100% in the wrong. Did he admit as much at the scene?

He didnt admit fault he said.. (He was pulling off to go and i didnt have time to stop.) Obviously a lie but its his word against mine is it not
?

WTF, isnt it amazing how some people can lie through there teeth  it really makes me mad that some people can be so mean because they know they can get away with it.

Go back and take lots of photos of the area, if you failed an emergency stop, there would usually be marks on the road prior to impact. If you were stationary its likely there were not.
Maybe I am just clutching at straws?

Also, If he works for the dealer, go in and speak directly to the General Manager. If it was one of thier cars I guess he will know about it all. Take your photos in, and calmly explain what happened.
Personally, I would go through your insurance, give them lots of evidence, and let them deal with it.

I'd be inclined to go into the showroom and make the point that one of their cars had crashed into my car in a very loud voice while they are trying to sell a car to someone. The last thing they will want is you bad mouthing them in front of potential customers. If he had crossed the centre line of the road then there is really no argument who is to blame.

Like I already said, find out if he works for the transporter firm or the showroom themselves.

If they still refuse to accept responsibility, get your car fixed then take the managing director of both the car transporter firm and the showroom to the small claims court. Neither of them will want to spend time going to court and they'll both be mad at each other for it getting that far. You'll have a good chance one of them will pay out to avoid going to court.

The matter has been resolved.

The guy who did it worked for an independant company who i think where a small outfit.

I agreed with his boss to pay half the cost of repair as there where no witness's and if it went to insurance we would both lose out.

I have the cheque in my hand and the car he was driving has been sold at auction , so no come back from them so not as bad as it could have been.

Just my car.

The car he had has been sold , so no claim will be made.

Its no big deal as i have found a guy who will do the repair for half the cost.
