Had a go on the PS3!

IMHO I don't think that there are any titles out on the PS3 and very few out for the 360 which show either consoles true potential.

I'm not sure about the 360 but I know that most games out now on the PS3 where failry quick ports to make sure it had a decent amount of launch titles. Like a previous poster said, I think most racing games are not that far above the last gen on either console yet, they just have a bit crisper graphics.

I am getting my PS3 (Jap import) hopefully by the end of the week. I guess I will have to pop around my mates to have a go on his 360 now, just so I can compare and contrast.

The game that I'm looking forward to playing the most on the PS3 is Motorstorm (I even have it pre-ordered for import, anyone know if the release date is still thi Friday?)

Before I continue I'm not having a go or picking an argument. I know you have had a lot of bother in other threads (some deserved some probably not);)

Neither console are anywhere near their full potential. Even with the 360s vastly superior developmemt enviroment and lower complexety hardware we have not yet seen anything near what it can do. So there is a huge scope for improvement on both platforms

There were a lot of ports when the 360 was released too, again they were rushed (probably a lot more so than the PS3 ports). I think this is something that we will see continue in future console releases.

I have played motorstorm and I was not impressed. But in saying that I am not a racing fan, from what I played I can see this being a marmite game.

Edit:

Regarding Roberts post above

Component is analogue, so is VGA. HDMI and DVI are digital (although an analogue signal can be sent down some DVI cables)

I think the poster you quoted ment that he was left in NO doubt that the PS3 was a next gen console. (he just left out the oprative word. ) :)

Ok, maybe some was deserved! but some people need to lighten up :)

It really suprises me how Sony havent bothered to make the development tools like they did with the PS2? MicroSoft are going to be cashing in on that one without a doubt.

The thing I was trying to say regarding the ports is that a lot of people are compairing GFX on the same game on the 2 systems and saying "hey they look the same, so the consoles must be about equal" but the reason they look the same is because they were ported or developed to look the same.

I look forward to the day when there have been sufficient titles out which have been soley developed for each console and really utilise the hardware of both. Then we can sit back, contrast and compare and have a nice chat about the joy of next gen gaming.

:)

It's very hard to say. Mate brought his xbox 360 round at the weekend and we compared the graphics. The only difference I could notice on the games we played was the lighting.

Not that I'm doubting you, but you plugged in both consoles on identical TV's. Identical games and compared them?

Did this really happen or did you read the Ps3/360 bit on gamespot and pretend it happened ;)

Overall, I think it has a different market to the 360. the PS3 feels more like a DVD player with games functionality added on. The 360 feels like a console with DVD player functionality added on.. subtley different enough to have it's own market.

If thats the case Sony are bang in trouble.
