Was coming back from a mates house and coming up to my turning and car on the other road had full beams on, It blinded me for a second or two.

As I was blinded the road started to curve round and then I was over the curb and slid on the grass.

I was then trapped under the bike and could not get up or lift the bike off me.
The first 2 cars passed but lucky the 3rd one passed then spun around he helped me get bike up.

Only damage I can see was bent handle bar and I managed to ride it home.
The main thing is I walked away unharmed I guess.

Always wear full bike gear if you can peeps.

Thank you and yes very grateful it was grass and not on the road or even a tree lol

I think my leg and the handlebar took the main hit.
Got my father in-law to look over the bike and it does seem the handlebar needs changing.

Just need to get sorted for work next good thing I am on zero hours so I can skip shifts if I need to.

Cheers.

Glad to hear there was no major damage to you or the bike!

Definitely this.
Had my first off on black ice over Christmas and all I got was a couple of sore spots, don't want to think about the skin I'd be missing if I was riding like some of the people I see in t shirt and jeans.
I'd not of been able to get up brush off and carry on to work I know that!

Glad you're all good, that's the important thing.

Bloody high-beams. I swear some drivers just drive around with them on constantly.

Cheers.

I can't believe some with just t shirt & shorts :O

It's mad the minimum I'll ride in now is my Kevlar jeans with hip and knee armor and my armored jacket, it gets a bit sweaty if you're just going around town but I like my skin attached to my bones.

They do, without a a doubt. Bizarrely I find quite a few idiots driving on the A38 (fast DCW) in traffic with main beams on, and you don't realise until you get past them and are dazzled.

Dress for the slide not the ride, i once saw a guy on the run up to the blackwall tunnel shorts and a vest!

I wonder what went through the first two drivers heads?

Handle bars are materialistic n can be picked up from breakers yards or ebay for good prices, bones n skin cannot.

I was given some advice when I was 17 when I started riding and that in the summer when the ground/road warms up is the most important time to wear full gear, as friction & heat would peel your skin from your bones lol.

After that I always where full gear.

When I crashed this time my foot got trapped right under the exhaust.
I think trainers could fell off the way I landed and it would been very painful.

I could feel my boot starting to warm up from the heat but lucky for me someone helped me and the boots did the job.

.

i think it's something like 5 seconds for a leg or arm to be ground down to bone, but your hip for instance will be down to bone in an instant due to not having any flesh and having weight on it.

And a decent helmet. One friend told me he was skidding down the road on his face (helmet) and he could see the helmet grinding away and the road getting closer. After that, he bought decent helmets lol. (he also lost a leg in a bike accident :-( )

Saw a guy earlier this week on a dual carriageway on a chopper in shorts, bear top, helmet on and sandals. Absolutely mental. Doing ~60mph aswell.

Not this again. It's amazing anyone lived through the first 90 years of motorcycles with basically no protection

Lots didn't though still I suppose people should be free to wear what they want.

Agreed although that reminds me of an argument I had once about what constitutes a decent helmet. I know prices vary wildly but there's this quote that always comes up that annoys me it's something along the lines of only buy a £50 helmet if you have a £50 head. I asked if he could explain at what point you would have spent a sufficient amount and there isn't really a good answer.

What I was told & agree with is find a comfortable helmet that fits well and if you like your face make sure it's covers your entire head.:D
